I don't see that anything has been done, so how can the issue be closed? No work has been completed. All that has been done is the removal of the guardrail, but not replaced. With the fact that it has been hit so many times over the past year or two, it's obvious that it needs to be replaced. If not, drivers will go right through that area and hit the brick wall - endangering anyone who might be on the sidewalk at the time.

Guardrail is designed to stop, slow down or deflect vehicles that leave the roadway at an acute angle. It is not designed to be installed at the end of the road to stop a vehicle hitting it at a right angle. That is why the city removed the old guardrail once it was damaged and added additional signs to mark the end of the road.

I understand your rationale. However, why was it installed in the first place? What else can be put there to prevent an errant driver from going right through there and hitting the brick wall? Perhaps some of those heavy steel pipes filled with concrete sunk into the ground five or six feet?
