Description
We would like to request the repaving of Glover Rd. All but 2 houses on Glover Rd. have children under 10 yrs old (at least 12 children total) that really want to skate/rollerblade/scoot on a better surface. Glover Rd was used as a staging ground for the Sunita Williams School/Central Ave construction and there are chunks of blacktop all over Glover, making it a horrible surface to skate on. We have Needham hockey players that really want to rollerblade on this street but can't. Thanks so much for the consideration!

Good afternoon: The Town hired an engineering firm to perform a Town wide road condition survey (0 to 100, best) which was completed in February 2019. The average condition rating for this area was in the top 30% or a ranking category of "may require routine maintenance". Needham has a 5-year Capital Plan for roadway paving / rehabilitation. The vast majority of roads added into the pave/ rehab program move into year 5 of the Capital Program.
There is a section of roadway in the neighborhood that could meet the requirement to pave due to condition with erosion control improvements recommended. That section is Cynthia Rd from near Louart DR to Glover Rd. This sloped section of roadway requires cape cod asphalt berm curbing to reduce erosion of the grass berm to reduce material running off which travels into the catch basin drain system into the nearby brook. Sincerely, Rhain Hoyland, Highway Supt.

Thanks for the reply, Rhain. Sunita Williams Elementary School opened September 2019 and the completion of the Central Ave road construction continued until that point. The Feb 2019 road condition survey was done prior to them using Glover Rd as a staging ground. The asphalt, gravel, heavy machinery was on Glover well after the survey took place. One boy broke his arm by falling off his bike after hitting a pile of asphalt that had been left behind.
We urge you to reconsider since the survey was done prior to the construction staging on Glover.
Thank you.

Cynthia Road paving looks great, but Glover Rd once again served as the staging ground and has loose gravel and chunks of concrete all over it. We had another child bike fall on Saturday due to the loose gravel. All the children in the neighborhood (Glover, Cynthia, Louart, Wildale, Central and beyond) often come to Glover to ride bikes since it is a flat road. There is no way to rollerblade, scoot or skateboard on the road due to the condition it is now.
Can you please tell us where on the schedule Glover is for paving?
Thanks so much.

Wondering if there is a date set yet for re-paving of Glover Rd?
Thanks for any updates!

1.5 years after the initial request was entered, is there a date set yet for the re-paving of Glover Rd? New home construction continues to eat up the road and still no kids are able to scoot or rollerblade on Glover. Thanks for any updates.
