City of oakland please tow this car. It's been reported multiple times and hasn't moved. It has parking tickets on the window and is clearly abandoned.

I called 311 and they say that they don't tow cars for another 90 days or so after the initial report (which is absurd given that this car has been parked in at least two areas within our block since last fall, only moving once). I know for a fact that this car is borrowed by a man named Thadeus who is a transient friend of someone who resides at 565 Alcatraz. I will try and bring up the matter with that resident again. This car was being lived in nearly full time for a solid month or two in front of my home last year.

FancyJosh, I feel that towing the car is the only option. I will try calling a tow company directly. I worry that talking to the resident at 565 will only get the car moved back onto Alcatraz which is worse than where it is now on Raymond.

Yea, I agree. Talking with him has yet to produce any longterm changes whatsoever thus far.

car is still there. terry at 565 has no less than 10 cars on raymond and alcatraz. if he wants to run a used car dealership he should find a lot instead of taking everyone's residential parking.

Thank you for merging this and the other requests. I spoke with 311 and they say that the request is with the abandoned vehicle department, and that the phone number to call for that is 510-777-8553. I called that and got a personal cell, so that is weird, but hopefully something will shake loose. There's pretty obviously a glitch in the system, because this car has been here for over half a year. Pretty disappointing that we're not getting help from the city about this. It's encouraging more blight.

To everyone on this thread- I spoke with 311 yesterday regarding yet another vehicle parked in this area from the same neighbor. The woman said 311 is the wrong outlet for this- since this is an issue with the illegal salvage yard/car repairs happening at 565 alcatraz we need to report this to our City Council Member Dan Kalb. I emailed him yesterday describing the issue, and am encouraging everyone on the block to do so as well. The 311 agent said the more people that email in, the better our chances at getting this resolved. You can email him at dkalb@oaklandca.gov. I mentioned all the ways this illegal salvage yard has impacted our street- besides just the 10+ cars consistently blocking residential parking from people that live here, there are cars blocking the busy street and sidewalk, trash piling up beside the cars, loud music and noise from tools into the night, etc. This may help us get this finally addressed. Please everyone contact Dan Kalb so we can get this addressed by the right people instead of having to keep going in circles with 311 who is clearly doing nothing.

I just sent in a comment to Kalb's office. Hopefully it'll help. They've been helpful in the past, but with more bureaucratic issues. This one looks like Oakland just doesn't know what to do. Fingers crossed.
