The walk signal at this intersection allows pedestrians to cross on the south crosswalk from Kerouac Park to French St. However, it gives traffic on French St. a left turn arrow making it impossible to cross French St. Also, although there's a second cross walk across Bridge towards French, there's no button on that pole. Plus, a walk signal allows traffic to turn left from French onto Bridge making it dangerous to use that walk.

I have to agree that this a major painfors a pedestrian at this intersection. To get around the problem the original poster mentioned above, if your intention is to walk westbound on French from the Kerouac Park side of Bridge Street, you have to cross on the south side of the intersection to get the walk signal and then cross French Street because the sidewalk on the parking garage side of the road isn't cleared. If the sidewalk was cleared of snow, this would at least alleviate some of the problem.

The other issue: What about people walking on Bridge St. that just need to cross French?

I agree that signs are better than nothing and I really do hope that the motorists will obey them, but I don't expect things to change. I have been nearly hit no less than 7 times in the 5 years I have lived here and I can attest that drivers just don't care. I just hope it doesn't take someone getting seriously injured or worse, killed, before the whole situation is re-evaluated.
Thank you for spending the time looking into this.
