Description
Bike bridge over Lake Holly has numerous boards on the south end that have rotted through, so badly that you can see the lake. Many other boards are deteriorated to the point that it requires urgent attention. Very dangerous situation.

It is unclear to many of us as to why the walking/biking "bridge" that parallels Pacific Avenue from 5th street to 10th street uses regular wood for the surface. We have seen workers numerous times replacing rotted boards only to find many more just as unsafe in just a few months. Why wasn't the surface covered with Trex or the equivalent??? Those of us who have Trex covered decks here at the Beach know how that material lasts so much longer than wood deck boards and with little, if any, maintenance.
I am aware that Trex -like boards are not as rigid as wood so need additional under-support but that is not anywhere as costly as the ongoing repair costs of replacing wood boards only to have more rot out shortly thereafter.
This needs to be addressed by the City engineers to get an answer as to why this stupidity continues when there is such an easy solution!!!
