Description

"Road Work Ahead" sign still blocking bike lane, EB Indian School just east of University.

This violates MUTCD - if you're going to block a bike lane, you need a "bike lane closed ahead"/"share the road" and speed control. In practice, this sign forces bicycles to merge into the car lane, needlessly, which is dangerous.

Shortly after the picture was taken, a cyclist had to swerve into the car lane to go around the sign, which is crazy, because as you can see from the picture there's plenty of perfectly good off-street space where the sign could be placed in a way that would still warn cars while also leaving bicyclists a safe way to ride up the hill.

This was initially reported April 1 as case #210401-001322, https://seeclickfix.com/issues/9633855-road-work-ahead-signs-blocking-bike-lane. There as yet has been no response whatsoever to that report.

It was reported a second time as case #210408-000481, https://seeclickfix.com/issues/9674899-road-work-ahead-signs-blocking-bike-lanes-indian-school-over-north-diversion-channel-both-directions, which was closed today.

But as you can see from the picture, the problem is still not fixed.
