Description
There needs to be a sidewalk here, from the corner of SE 48th St to the existing sidewalk near the intersection of Issaquah Pine Lake Rd and Issaquah Fall City Rd. This is very dangerous without a sidewalk and more and more people, and kids especially, are using this road (in photo) to get from our neighborhoods up to the shops and stores in the Issaquah Highlands. And they end up walking and biking right next to cars and trucks. I highly recommend a visit so you can see how narrow and dangerous it is. As you can see, there is a steep hill right next to the road so there is nowhere for pedestrians to go except the road. I am concerned someone is going to get hurt. And summer is about to be here which will mean more pedestrians and danger.

What was once a fairly rural road has now become a street filled with housing developments. Those developments are in turn filled with families and children. The number of walkers/bike riders on Southeast 48th has increased a 1000% since moving here in 1997 - on a road with no continuing sidewalk, extremely narrow shoulders and very poor visibility due to hills. I employed the city to take action before horrible accident occurs along this stretch of road, the hazards of which the City of Issaquah is well aware.
Thanks in advance for helping to keep our kids in families safe.

A sidewalk on this road is incredibly important. City planning should always put pedestrian and bike traffic first and cars second. This is especially important for our kids who are reaching an age where they can start exploring on their own. I don't want them restricted to just our neighborhood.
The new elementary school on this road will increase the importance of this request. Thank you.
Because of the lack of sidewalk, I hope you might also consider making it easier to reach Elementary School #16 from the residential neighborhoods in the back without having to walk all the way down Jacobs Lane....
