I once made that same remark, cause they dont acknowledge every listing nor do they automatically close the issues once resolved. Its their decision/preferred way to use this link but they are not really followup kinda folks. I would have to look at one of my older emails but it was something to the effect of they didnt have time. I dont agree. i find the mojority of my issues throughout HC, NRH, RH in less than 120 minutes a week and that includes reporting them and then passing back by a month later to see if resolved. I wish they had a blotter of some sort to show progress. I must say that they handle alot more than we realize on a regular basis and a city of 40k residents in 5 precincts with 3 code enforcement officers, they are really doing a bang up job. Repairing pot holes is one thing, repairing an entire street is a whole other department. Contact James Pliska or Glenna Batchelor (sorry if misspelled) in code at city hall and they can tell you the plans, if any, there are for streets. Markham is not as popular a street as one may seem but it would be cool if the monies that are generated by the camera police went toward improvements as well as there may be bond money set aside and just looking for the right opportiunity. A project this big would need for you to befriend or bother a city councilman. Check with James first. He is probably the one person in the know or could get you pointed in the right direction. Stop in, shake their hand, thank them for their years of service. They are really nice folks and like having feedback, or at least they should.
To end, I often wind up resolving many of my own posts, they run through thousands of issues a month. You are right though, we should be getting feedback, especially if there is another entity that needs to be involved and how we can get that entity involved, like a name, email and phone number of who we should be reporting to.
I doubt the "monitor" will allow this post to stay being that it is not a bleeding heart comment, but since I worked for local government for almost 10 years, I can easily say that if a city places a link on the front page of their city website, labeling it as the place to go to report problems or issue a complaint, then they should darn sure have policies and procedures in place to utilize that program effectively and efficiently. When they do not follow through, respond or inform, it simply serves as proof that they are nothing but GOMOs...(GOMO=person who just goes through the motions).
