According to the Director of Public Utilities, there was a late algae bloom this weekend. Dana Lane water lines will be flushed today. The Broad Brook reservoir will be shut down this morning and treatment started. The water was tested last week and is safe to drink despite the odor.

Our water smells like a swamp ( again ) and taste horrible. I cant use the water for anything, AGAIN.

i have the same problem i live on broad street. its absolutely digusting. i cant smell it when i shower and when i mix crystal light with the tap water...i wont drink it straight it smells so bad i think ppl might get sick from drinking it

We're going to try using reverse osmosis ,they use this system in 3rd World Countries!!!

It's back .... the foul smelling/tasting water of the Broad Brook Water Treatment Facility. Can I deduct the cost of purchasing bottled water from my water bill?

This problem is caused by algae blooms brought on by the recent very warm weather. Broad Brook reservoir was treated last week, Kenmere and Elmere will be treated today. Bradley & Hubbard was treated two weeks ago, has been offline since then and is beginning to clear. Engineering plans are being worked on for the changes to the Broad Brook treatment system that are designed to clear up this recurring problem permanently. The water quality is within state standards despite the odor issues. It would be helpful if persons experiencing this problem would email me at lkendzior@ci.meriden.ct.us with their address. The City will test your water or flush the lines to your neighborhood as necessary.

they still havent fix the water , we live on Quinlan and for 5 years it's been this was smell's like swomp, and all they did is come testmy water once this year. said it was fine. but it's smelly and tasted real bad all the time. i cant aford to keep buying water every month im on disabilty. at least they can do is supply water to us.. or call a company that might no what to do to get it fixed..
