My thanks to the DPW employees who are investigating the problem with our STEP tank. Today, the tank was emptied again and Bill Gillis descended into the tank to inspect. Afterward he reported two finding to me. 1) Two days after our last rainfall there is significant groundwater intrusion at the joint between the tank and the riser. And, 2) he showed me a video he took of water entering the tank from the sewer pipe leading from our home. It is unfortunate that he took this video without first asking us to avoid using water in our home, thus rendering his suspicion that I have a cracked sewer line useless. My wife was indoors at the time and may have been using water at the time he took the video. I am glad that the city is taking steps to alleviate groundwater intrusion into their STEP tank located on our property. If there is any reliable evidence that the sewer line to the tank (our responsibility) is damaged and responsible for introducing groundwater to the STEP tank I will address that problem. Let's work together to ascertain the facts and move forward to solve the problem(s).
