Description
A survey conducted by a British department store found that the average man only buys his own underwear for 17 years of his life! I blame the complete lack of stores carrying underwear in urban areas.
The Milford Mall is 40 minutes away by bus and bus service to Walmart is spotty, especially on weekends, when people have time to shop.
Please take away this excuse from lazy men like myself who want to buy their own underwear, but can't find a store that carries it!
Also, there is a huge untapped market for ALL basic clothing in New Haven, not just underwear. The Salvation Army store can only go so far!! And I can't afford to shop at American Apparel! And I'm embarrassed that my mom still buys me underpants!!!

I think this piece of satire says a lot about the constant stream of drivel that comes to this website. Please think twice about the significance of the complaint and restrain yourself from trivial personal gripes!
Let's keep this site available to report the real problems we all need fixed!

This is totally a real problem. I'm not being sarcastic. There's no place to buy underwear and socks in this town!
Staples and Rite-Aid just went out of business, and neighborhood members are trying to convince the property owner to recruit a clothier such as T.J. Max or H&M.

I totally agree with the people interviewed for the story and I wanted to voice my support. Maybe if enough people voice their support here, we'll be able to get the wider community and press on board and eventually send all of the comments to T.J. Max and H&M and similar chains to try to get them to come to New Haven.

Agreed. Suburban strip malls have sucked away a lot of the basic needs items from New Haven. I know this seems like a ridiculous issue but is probably as legit as the need for a supermarket in downtown. (Another SeeClickFix issue).
However, I have good news: Case Closed - Sports Park on Lower Chapel has underwear. They also have the most awesome collection of Nike's I have ever seen. (PS, saw your mom buying you undies there once)

convinced me that a discount grocery store would not be a great tenant for this location, especially since Shaws is already right next door. While I don't personally have anything against discount grocery stores in principle, I feel like a basic clothing store would be more useful to the neighborhood (and more useful to me).
If for some reason Save-A-Lot decides not to move in, or goes out of business or something, I think it would be awesome if we were waiting with a whole bunch of comments from local residents that we could bring to a clothing store to try to get them to move in.

I'll reopen this issue if something goes wrong with Save-a-lot. I mainly just wanted to make sure this building doesn't stand empty.
Does anyone know whether a tenant has been found for the Rite-aid building?
