Description

This is more of an ongoing problem, not one incident or specific damage report.

The old (now largely vacant) Torrington Company parking lot, part of which is currently being used for the new Register Citizen location, is often the site of car races, cars doing 'donuts', and groups of people egging each other on with their cars. (In fact there is one such race occurring right now, which prompted me to post this in the first place.)

The police were notified during once when it had extended through the night to 2:00 in the morning and there were about 7 groups and cars out there. I don't know that there is any permanent fix for this problem, but I am putting it out there so people are aware of it. It tends to increase in the spring and summer months.

Perhaps a few speed bumps or the installation of a few parking lane dividers (similar to Lowe's parking lot) would decrease this activity. I am sure a police presence would be a deterrent, but the police can't be everywhere at once and that would only be a temporary solution.
