Amen, a foreseeable tragedy waiting to happen

Speeding and dangerous driving are not new here. For nine years our neighborhood has been speaking with DCR and State Police to no avail. The State Police do not enforce traffic laws saying it’s “too dangerous.”
Two weeks ago Sunday the road was closed down. We saw a car on its side, not the first time.
Any thoughts as to how we can get help are welcome.

There seems to be no enforcement of the truck/bus exclusion on FPP. Many trucks and buses use the road freely and we have not seen a single one stopped in the 25+ years we have lived here. On this narrow winding road, this is a major disaster waiting to happen.

It's irritating to read hyperbolic complaints from people that are privileged enough to live near fresh pond... not everyone can do that; some still need to drive to boston for work. Please consider how much the transportation network has been constrained by bicycle lanes and traffic calming, and how that affects people from outside of our zip codes. Many of them become frustrated to near impoverishment and resort to bad driving, which no legislation can prevent. And still this roadway has far fewer fatalities than similar sized arterials like the cummins, ekkening, American legion or Jamaica way: one pedestrian in 2003 and a 4am single car crash in 2018. Please try to coexist and keep things in perspective... honking is not road rage.

Hyperbolic, privileged words that are meant to criticize and belittle.

The Parkway is posted 25 MPH. The Parkway from Huron Avenue to the river and beyond is posted “No Trucks” and the DCR law and regulation actually prohibits on its Parkways: anything over 2.5 tons capacity, 12 seats, 7 feet.

All we ask is that the law and regulation be observed, coached, and where necessary, enforced.

The climate, if nothing else, demands that and more. Or, rather less emissions.

Take the Red Line, though not one MBTA bus line in in Cambridge actually goes all the way to the Alewife T.

Take the bus to Alewife Station, but the super wide access road, is sometimes blocked with two lanes of cars backed up

Further, the Access Road from 8-lane Route 2 is wider than the two travel lanes of Concord Street neighboring Huron Avenue. The Access Road has no parking, few pedestrians on its sidewalk, no commercial space, and few if any bikes. A bus lane on the Access Road could move multiple bus lines faster to the Alewife T.

Make a bus lane on the Access Road to the Alewife T. Yeah, it’s complicated, maybe MASSDOT, the MBTA, Arlington and Cambridge have to communicate.

GTS, you get it! We’re trying to get you NOT to drive. Ride your bike in! Drive and then take the red line.

Even, take the bus from any community along Route 2, or the Fitchburg Commuter Rail from Concord and neighboring communities. Then switch to the Red Line at the Alewife T or Porter Square, respectively.
