Description

I have just come to find out that the city of Prince Albert has a bylaw prohibiting school busses from using their flashing lights and stop arms. Why would the city outlaw the useage of safety equipment to keep our children safe? Due to this bylaw the busses policy is to leave and then have the children cross the street with no supervision. This is very disturbing to me. This law should be reviewed and the busses should be required to use their safety equipment as it is intended.

i know! i moved here 7 years ago, and couldnt believe this safety equiptment that busses have for a reason!! isnt being used! i would love to know why! its there for a reason people, and the way people drive in this city they need it! but i`m sure people wouldn`t stop for it any way, they dont care around here. it needs to change, and be implemented. either by the bus driver taking down the plate number of car that doesnt obey the flashing lights or what not. but something needs to be done, and because of this none of my 4 children will ride the bus. i will drop them all off at school and pick them up as well

There is no school bus Bylaw. I have seen them use the swing out arm on the front of the bus before.

There is I am trying to have it sent to me. In the city limits they are not allowed this came straight from the manager at the bus depot. I have emailed the city for further info.

There is one. It's just not posted on the City's website. I remember when it came out. I thought it was daft, to be honest. Seems to me as it was filed under "obstructing the normal flow of traffic" or something ridiculous like that. That would have been passed in late 90s, early 00s because my kids were still in grade school.

Interesting....would like to be kept up to date on this.....They are used in the rural areas and we stop both directions when the lights and arms are in use. I have stopped many times and it is not inconvenient at all and we are stopping on a highway.

We live in the city, and the school bus picks up our kids every morning.

They use the stop sign arm and the red flashing lights every morning.
