Highland Ave is off Hill St correct?? I see the same thing. I live near Hilltop Nursery and I'm forever seeing people blow right through the stop sign going down the hill and then coming up the hill people just fly. I know up the street on Prindle Ave there are always kids playing in or close to the road and someday someone is going to get killed. Cops do radar but it doesn't seem to help any.

Perhaps this suggests the stop sign is an inappropriate use for speed reduction and should be removed.

You are correct, we need speed bumps on the road every 25 feet

First, let us ONCE AGAIN remind that it is not legal to install speed bumps on public streets, only private ones. This has to be the forth post asking for speed bumps on a public road. No.

Second, if the Ansonia PD were to simply do traps at about 5-6 stop signs in key areas indicated on this site, the city could stop charging all property taxes in about 6 months. Ansonia leaves TONS of motor vehicle ticket revenue on the table every month.

FYI- Speed limit in Ansonia, according to City Charter, is 25 MPH unless otherwise posted. Fines collected for speeding DO NOT go to the city, they go to the state. Don't know why but that's what I'm told.

I'm all for the speed control bumps, They have them in other towns on public streets and they work great. Newtown put them in an area where people would fly and now its MUCH better with the humps.

The Highland Avenue/Hill Street intersection is a tragedy waiting to happen. All on-street parking was taken away from Hill Street residents some years ago. At that point, Hill Street became a motor speedway with nothing slowing anyone down. Traffic calming measures are definitely needed, and apparently, speed bumps, speed humps and something called "speed tables" are options available in CT. Or, a simple option to slow down the speeding would be to allow at least some parking on Hill Street again. (A side benefit would be grateful Hill Street residents who would love the ability to have family gatherings again!)
