Requests: bike concern
Ridge Avenue And Kelly Drive Philadelphia, PA
Welcome Tom Corbett!
Dear PennDOT, Congratulations! You've outdone the City of Philadelphia by way of your contempt for cyclists and pedestrians.
03/01/11 - complainant bikes to work w/o incident
03/01/11 - complainant returns home only to find kelly drive blocked with a sign stating that the path would be closed starting 02/28. The sign suggests the ridge avenue sidewalk as an alternate.
Problem 1: Today is March 1. You failed to provide any notice and proceeded to block our way home.
Problem 2: With the exception of designated bike paths like Kelly Drive, cyclists are forbidden from riding on sidewalks
Problem 3: You've put us directly at the intersection of a work zone, a highway onramp, a road onramp with no consideration whatsoever for our safety, pedestrians and cyclists alike
I just wanted to say "thanks for nothing." Expect me to ride my bike in the middle of traffic as is my right as a "motor vehicle" (cyclist) under state law.· Reported by Concerned Cyclist · Flag Flagged
Wissahickon Bike Trail Philadelphia, PA 19128, USAThere has been another rock fall off the exposed cliff face above the Wissahickon Bike Trail. The rocks were small enough to be cleared by hand, but they are another indication of the instability of this cliff and the potential hazard to users.· Reported by Anonymous · Flag Flagged
5749-5799 Lincoln Dr Philadelphia, PA 19144, USAThere are multiple stretches of the paved path along the Wissahickon that are covered in 1-3 inches of very sandy dirt which can make the trail quite treacherous on a road bike or in low light.· Reported by Al · Flag Flagged
Green Lane To Shurs Lane To Ridge Ave Merge To Septa Transfer Philadelphia, PA 19127, USA
The entire route beginning from Main street where cars are parked on both sides of the road and where the 61 (bus) travels....a cyclist takes their life every day.
#1 Nobody behind the wheel travels speed limit (25mph) including SEPTA - - they go barreling down Main street from Green Lane to Shurs Lane to Ridge merge to SEPTA transfer, squeezing cyclists - pinning them either to a park car or squeezed by speed behind a moving car.
#2 the approach to Wissahickon transfer station during a compute is deadly. Cars spontaneously pulling to the curbside to drop off people, SEPTA pulling in and out of the turn-around, cars not wanting to accommodate the bicycle, and people moving, gathering -running across streets for buses.... CRAZY, SCARY...it will happen .someone will get hurt badly -- or it will be fatal.
Sharrows were put down early June - GREAT 1st step. Hoping step 2 and 3 will follow. Enforcement of travel speed and a solution to the disastrous Wissahickon SEPTA transfer station.· Reported by Darlene Messina · Flag Flagged
