This fall and early winter, DPW has re-paved Overlook, and several other low-traffic side streets off Hillside Avenue (between Main Street and Watchung). DPW has also re-paved Hillside Avenue, but only south of Watchung Ave. and up towards the cemetery. This areas also has less traffic.

However, none of Hillside Avenue between Main Street and Watchung has been re-paved following the installation of the new gas line, and this stretch is by far the most traveled section of the street. It still has numerous holes, bumps and the lengthy stretch of replacement concrete from the work.

When exactly will Hillside Avenue between Main Street and Watchung be re-paved, similar to what was done to most of the less trafficked, side streets?

The gas company dug a large hole several weeks ago, and covered it with a metal plate and cones. It's dangerous, because to pull out of Bridge St on to Watchung, you need to sit in the left lane. If someone pulls around the corner without looking, there could be a bad accident. Can anything be done to get them to finish up whatever project this is? Thanks!

Large amount of road salt spilled and left there. Will erode and damage new pavement which wasn’t sealed and there is a seam down the middle of the road which already compromises the pavement’s integrity. Should be cleaned up ASAP. Additionally the streets that were half paved ought to be sealed in their entirety. It not only looks poorly done but the roadways seam will most likely not stay intact.
