Trash Pickup Vendor Change

Trash Pickup Vendor Change

The City of Ypsilanti solicited bids from qualified trash contractors over the summer and have recently signed a contract with Stevens Disposal to provide curbside trash pickup in the City, beginning Monday, September 23rd. The following are a few common questions that we want to answer: Will my trash pick-up day change? No, Stevens will maintain the same pickup days throughout the city. Their route timing may change, so please make sure that your trash, yard waste, and recycling are out at the curb by 6am (it’s okay to set them out the night before). The trash pickup schedule is available here: https://cityofypsilanti.com/313/Trash-Pickup-Schedule Will I need new trash disposal containers? No, Stevens will continue to follow the same trash disposal rules that are currently in place. These rules can be found on the City’s website at the following link: https://cityofypsilanti.com/312/Trash-Service Will bulk item, extra trash bag, or Freon stickers change in price? No, the price will remain at $2.50 per extra trash bag/can, extra bulk items are $20, and $35 for Freon-containing items. These stickers can be bought at the Department of Public Services, 14 W Forest, Mon-Fri 8a to 4p. Will the double trash or holiday schedules change? No, the schedule remains the same for 2019, and is posted here: https://cityofypsilanti.com/299/Holiday-Schedule---Trash-Recycling-Yard-. The 2020 schedule has not yet been finalized. We want to stress that while the day trash is getting picked up will not change, the times during that day that the trash is picked up may not be the same as Stevens will likely not have the same routes as the Republic drivers. If you have any questions or concerns, please call the Department of Public Services at 734-483-1421 - we will work together to make the transition as smooth as possible.
