PARK IMPROVEMENT NOTICE: PAVONIA/MARION PARK: 1040 WEST SIDE AVE
Updated onTo Whom It May Concern:
As a part of the City’s efforts to increase the usability of park spaces, we are implementing
a full park renovation at 1040 West Side Ave, South of Broadway. New active equipment,
courts, seating, curbing, sidewalks, fencing, trees, enhanced tree pits, bioswales and a new
turf surface designed as per public input will be implemented.
Construction of the improvements will begin on or about Monday August 19, 2024 with
an estimated completion date on or about Wednesday April 16, 2025. Detours of traffic
may be instituted during the construction. Parking will be reserved with minimal
encumbrance on Corbin Ave along rear frontage of the park for entire project duration.
Parking will also be reserved intermittently along West Side Ave with minimal
encumbrance and the least amount of obstruction to traffic possible.
Additionally, in the event of an emergency, the contractor may close streets and will follow
standard procedures with signage to do so. Emergency no parking signage will be posted
within the project limits, but pedestrian access to all businesses and residences will be
maintained. Please be advised that all dates are dependent on weather, utility access and
unforeseen conditions and may change.
We want to work safely and fulfill our commitment to the advancement of Jersey City;
therefore, the park is closed completely during construction. This work improves critical
infrastructure that the public and our residents depend on.
Should you have any questions regarding the construction work, or access to
the site, please contact the Division of Architecture
