Requests: noise complaint
420 W Ritner Street Philadelphia, PennsylvaniaThree homeless men have been residing on the porch for over a week. They drink, and make noise and trash the front of the property. Police have come out, but the men return minutes later after. 911 dispatch refuses to resolve the issue permanently and have advised I contact 311 to complain, which I already have. They have said the officers are doing enough by coming out and that this is a resolution. I have also complained to Councilman Squilla and Representative Keller. The police are making me feel like a snitch instead of a taxpaying citizen of Philadelphia concerned with his personal safety and the safety of his community. I'm afraid to have an officer visit me to personally report the issue because the men yell about having the police called and last night the men and cursed at passerby accusing them of calling. I don't want my home to become a target because of this. It has taken 1-2 hours for a response if the police come at all. There are several families and elderly folks on the street.
The image I have uploaded shows one of the men sleeping. His blue/gray jacket is visible just under the window. They are here day and night.
420 W Ritner Street Philadelphia, Pennsylvania3 adult men are living on the porch at 420 Ritner. They drink, make noise at night, and make a mess of the property and urinate on the sidewalk in front of other houses. Police have been called several times, but the men return after a few minutes and yell at passerby asking if they contacted the police. 911 said I should file a complaint with 311 instead of call and that they consider the problem solved if an officer simply visits.
3rd & Fitzwater Philadelphia, PA
At 7:20p I stopped my car in 3rd street and put on the hazards to provide a jump to a young woman who's car that wouldn't start. She had flagged me down and asked for assistance. Within two minutes of being stuck behind this activity, your drive started honking his horn. Then proceeded to lean on it - uninterrupted, for another 3-4 minutes while we attempted to start the car. Great job SEPTA - thanks for making a difficult situation worse. I'm sure my neighbors on 3rd and Fitzwater appreciated the noise. Isn't there a law against this type of disturbance? He wouldn't stop, even as I pointed to the jumper cables between the cars. This infantile SEPTA driver's behavior towards a young woman, clearly stranded, in the dark, in 15 degree cold with snow on the ground is simply unacceptable. Let's not wish it on his daughter. Based on this experience and others, it can truly be said SEPTA drivers some of the worst in the nation. And expensive - with standards this low - please cut their salaries so at least we get what we pay for...
This driver should disciplined and given training on dealing with the public. Better yet, put him on a suburban route where he doesn't have to suffer the hardships of the city.
