4 Frontage Road South Albuquerque, New Mexico
The intersection of Mountain Rd and Frontage Road (southbound) needs to be examined for safety. The tunnel-like underpass were Mountain crosses under I-25 results in very limited visibility for vehicles on Mountain, westbound. There have been a number of very serious accidents here, including at least one involving an emergency vehicle. Because of the tunnel/underpass, vehicle lights and sirens are not visible/audible to vehicles southbound on Frontage road, so they "pop" out of the tunnel and can be immediately struck by southbound vehicles. I suspect also that the traffic lights are not sufficiently visible to vehicles in the underpass, such that some drivers do not realize they are about to cross a very active frontage road with relatively high-speed traffic. Putting a warning sign on south bound Frontage Road north of the intersection with Mountain, and perhaps having an active speed-readout sign of the sort we have on Sunport Blvd near the approach to the terminal, might also slow down the Frontage road traffic. There was a serious, injury accident at this intersection this morning, and I suspect people were seriously hurt. This needs to be addressed.
