Corner Of Willoughby/CommodoreKids from the high school blow through this stop sign after school as they use Willoughby to cut through. Other times there are so many people who don't stop...it's dangerous to the children in the immediate vicinity
Howe Ave Shelton, ConnecticutI was driving home on Tuesday from work at 2:35. I was on Howe Ave with my left turn signal on to go onto Rt8 now that the other entrance ramp is closed. There was a white SUV coming out of that road (not sure of the name of road) coming from Coram ave with their left signal on. There was a red car approaching from the downtown area. Red car of course had right of way. Well, the white SUV jumped out in front of the red car to go left towards downtown almost t-boning the red car. Red car had to swerve and was now headed head on into my car. It was the superior driving of the person in this red car that he was able to swerve between me and the parked cars on Howe and he was facing the other direction. If not for his excellent driving I would be dead and possible him also. I want to thank him for that. I look and see the SUV just aimlessly driving down the road like nothing happened and was THEIR fault!!!! Something has to be done at this intersection. An officer should be there or something horrible is going to happen. It almost did on Tuesday.......to me and the red car!!!
I wish people would stop. I walk to and from work everyday, and the amount of people I see talking/texting while they are driving Yes!!!! Heaven help the individual driver who hits a pedestrian while talking/texting while driving. I have seen individuals in state cars, UI employees, Yankee Gas, young men and ladies, even a policeman. I feel like going around and putting signs on motor vehicles to stop with the talking/texting madness.
Take the NO PHONE ZONE pledge that OPRAH has . Be a little conscious of the people around you. If you don't value your life, don't assume that someone else shares your opinion. JUST DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!

223 Canal Street Shelton, Connecticut
Hi, I have been watching with great interest the discussion of Canal Street and the river walk here. Sadly, since the Naugatuck River Greenway and Shelton river walk don't have sites that invite dialogue this site has been invaluable in creating a "town hall" to ask questions.
I have to ask what is going on with 223 Canal? I am part of a small group who has started researching this area online and in person as great progress has been made but announced projects seem to stall. Unfortunately, local newspapers have not been helpful because they will write a story (such as about Spongex becoming condos) in 2015 and the building then sits and rots into the eyesore it is today next to the river walk but the paper never returns to ask why it's two years later and you can't see a difference.
That said, 223 Canal has a sign saying it's being demolished and a nice porta potty and fence. I have read documents that say this building is coming down as it sits 3 feel into Canal Street making the site not only needs remediation but you can't rebuild Canal with a structure sitting on it.
Weeks and weeks go by... not a shovel in the ground. I know this is a slow process but when the pretty sign (which costs money) goes up to announce a project and the construction fence is put in place there should be teams of workers on site. There is no need for a sign and fence to "pretend" we are making progress.
Where do we stand here? Perhaps Shelton needs to post monthly updates on each project on a special page on it's site. Lots has been done but with Spongex in limbo, the Conti building needing A LOT of TLC on Howe and now this end of Canal just sitting there one has to wonder when these funds will be put to use.
and THANK YOU PLANNER! I know you will do your best to give a detailed answer as you always do. I only hope Ansonia, Derby and Shelton are paying you a consultants fee to update the public on their behalf.
Corner Of Fairview Ave. And River Road Shelton, ConnecticutThe street sign for Fairview Avenue is only attached to the telephone pole by one screw. The other screw fell out and the sign is tipping over. If it falls off I'm sure it'll disappear. Please fix.
180 Center St Shelton, CT 06484Oak Ave, Perry Hill Rd., Center St., and Bridgeport Ave., all converge at one intersection. Many times cars coming down Perry Hill Rd., ignore the stop sign and blow through the intersection. Many times I am waiting at the stop sign to turn onto Briegeport ave., and when I can finally turn safely, a vehile will come down Perry Hill Rd., and cut me off. I have been almost hit several times. A traffice light, with no turn on red, needs to be placed at that intersecion,· Reported by Bryan Lizotte · Flag Flagged
Ccor. Coram Rd./Hillside Ave And Tuxedo Ave. Shelton, CTHello, Mayor Lauretti & Public works dept. .Please take action with the new snow plow drivers.
They don`t plow all of Tuxedo ave. The P.W dept has been notified. But still the new driver refuses to plow the whole rd.
Then on the steep corner of Coram /and Hillside ave where the stop sign is and a childrens school bus stop is .
You can not drive up it because it`s is not cleaned up properly.Your tire just keep spinning.
The drivers don't drop the plow on the corner of Hillside Ave. and Tuxedo Ave.
So if you leave or enter you get stuck in the snow.
As you may know at the Coram Rd./ and Hillside Ave. is very, very steep .
Please, please, please replace the driver or train him .
But, whatever you do hold him accountable !
This is so unprofessional, to say the least.
If not, I will keep posting and calling the public works dept.
Next step is call the Mayor`s office.

137 Oak Ave Shelton, CTAt the intersection of Oak and Elm in Shelton, there is insufficient one-way signage. There is a One Way Do Not Enter sign only on one side of the street. We need one on the other side. As a result, I constantly see cars driving the wrong way down our street. Several times, I have nearly had a collision due to someone coming down the one way section of Oak the wrong way.
