2515 Crescent Forest Drive Raleigh, North Carolina
We live in the Maybrook Crossing subdivision and the preserve area that is next to our our house which was never supposed to be touched. A basketball court with chain link fence was installed against our and surrounding neighbor"s strenuous objections. Not only did it drive down property value but it became a place for gangs to congregate, drug deals to be made etc. After enough property damage, including a fire set to the trees in the preserve, and police being continuously called, the basketball goals were taken down and the gate was locked. About a year later the HOA decided to turn the area into a playground- again despite objections from us and the surrounding neighbors. The playground equipment was quickly destroyed along with the time control lock that was installed on the gate. Once again this became an area for teenage kids to start just hanging out and causing trouble. The park was finally dismantled except or the benches and the gate was locked. Well now the gangs of unruly kids and aggressive teens and older thugs just throw rocks at the lock until it opens and fight clubs have formed. The screaming, profanity, and nature of the activity is so bad that we cantt even step into our back yard. They taunt our dogs and myself as they all make their way into the "closed" park and begin the fights. We call the police once or twice a week at a minimum but by the time the police arrive they scatter in all different directions. There have been drug deals going on as well late at night. We attended a community awareness meeting and an officer was there to report on recent crime statistics, answer questions and address concerns. He mentioned this site as a resource to report public nuisance and safety concerns. I'm Hoping someone can help us resolve this serious safety issue before things escalate further and there is property damage, or worse, people are injured or killed.
