Requests: road safety
52 Westerfield Rd Hamden, ConnecticutThe stop sign at Westerfield Road and Thompson Street is fading. People either cannot see the sign or just don't stop. There is severe speeding through the street and we definitely need bumpers to slow the speeding. This has been requested before, but now that the street is used a a short cut, it has become more necessary. We live on a blind hill, so before something tragic happens, please look into this matter.
757 Pine Rock Avenue Hamden, ConnecticutAnother accident on Pine Rock Avenue this morning. Is it going to take a serious injury or a tragic death for the
Hamden Police Dept. to start enforcing the traffic laws?? The speed limit on Pine Rock Ave. is 25 MPH,
most cars, commercial trucks and school buses travel at twice that speed every day on this residential
street where children walk to nearby Helen Street school or wait for buses to pick them up.
There isn’t even a sign warning drivers about the dangerous curve as you approach Blacy Street where this
Accident happened today. A stop sign or speed bumps need to be installed, perhaps this narrow section of
Pine Rock Avenue should be modified to become a one way street headed South. When will some action be taken
to make this street safer.
State Street New Haven, ConnecticutCalled public safety when I saw an uncapped hypodermic needle on State Street today and it was removed within 20 minutes after phoning it in, Thank you public safety. Also hopefully others will do the same when they see a needle.
East Rock Park New Haven, ConnecticutThere are cars speeding and racing up and down East Rock all the time. There are clear signs posting 15 MPH, yet cars do not obey these speed limits. As a walker, jogger and biker I find these cars extremely dangerous. Police need to take notice. This is very unsafe.
1756 Whitney Avenue Hamden, ConnecticutSidewalk surface in poor condition at 1600 block of Whitney Avenue. Specifically west side of Whitney, near corner of Whitney Ave & Ardmore St.
Neighbours have informed us it is safety hazard and residential blight.
95-115 Vantage Road Hamden, ConnecticutThe sidewalk has completely been covered by leaves/sticks/etc. to the point that you can't see it and you definitely can't use it. It is a safety concern because that section of Vantage Rd. is a busy road where cars come down the hill very fast, which makes it very difficult to safely walk up/down Vantage Rd.
Mather St Hamden, ConnecticutThere are a lot of large pine branches along the sides of the road that fell during recent storms that should be removed. People walk along Mather St and this could become a safety issue if they have to walk in the street to avoid branches.
48 Church Street Hamden, CT
I am writing regarding an old tree in front of my house at 48 church st. Hamden. This is a very old tree, with lots of rotten large branches that tend to fall during every storm and with strong winds. The tree is located on the sidewalk, a block away from an elementary school. Parents and children walk by every morning.
I have a three year old girl that plays in the yard and I am worried for her safety. The tree is also putting my property and my neighbors at risk, both our cars and part of our houses sit underneath the tree.
My husband and neighbor have tried contacting Public Works MANY times during the last two years with no response whatsoever. We tried to hire someone to take the tree down but they wouldn’t do it because is city’s property. So we are requesting the tree to be taken down for everyone safety. If it can’t be taken down, it at least needs a serious pruning.
I appreciate your help on directing this request to the responsible person so they take action.
