This post is to report a possible violation of public right of way and/or actions that constitute a public nuisance. Ace Towing and Recovery has laid down tons of gravel beyond their fence line and has now parked at least 11 salvage vehicles on the deposited gravel. The salvage yard was ugly to begin with, but least it was contained behind a fence. Please attend to this and take the appropriate legal action.

Fill dropped off at the location of the marker. If it is placed anywhere in the watershed above western entrance to the Hammond Road Tunnel on the Walnut Creek Trail, it will wash into the tunnel during rainfall.

The rains on January 2nd left a lot of sand and mud in the tunnel under Lake Wheeler Road. Water dripping from the tunnel ceiling makes the wet spots especially hazardous for cyclists. Please clean this out.

The tunnel has mostly dried out and left behind crusty sand and dried clay. Please clean it out before rains come and make the tunnel a complete mess again.

The heavy rains on January 2nd deposited mud and sand in the Hammond Road tunnel. I was hoping that somehow this would get cleaned up without having to report it, but since it's been more than two weeks, attention is now overdue. The deposit covers enough of the tunnel floor that it's caused my tires to slip a few times. Please clean it up.

The lights have been out in the tunnel ever since the hurricane on Oct. 8. The electrical junction box at the western entry appears to have been tampered with. Please do the necessary repairs so that users can see in the tunnel again!

The flooding due to Hurricane Matthew tore off a large section of trail asphalt on Oct. 8, which was 3 weeks and 4 days ago. I did notice that compacted gravel has been placed to reduce the initial uneven surface left behind after the flood subsided, but the trail is still bare gravel. Give us cyclists a break and fix this already, please!

Flooding ripped off the asphalt at the spot indicated by the marker. That was three weeks and four days ago. Why has this spot not been repaved? This became a problem area back in July when heavy rains destabilized the trail bed and caused the asphalt to sag, making the trail extremely rough. Nothing was done between then and the hurricane, and now this section of trail is bare gravel. Stop ignoring this and fix it, please.

Wow, when were the Outer Banks relocated to the Walnut Creek Trail? There are so many sand dunes on the greenway between S. Saunders St. and Fayetteville St. that I feel like I'm at the beach. Please attend to this!

Usually I attach a picture of the tunnel filled with mud and water, but I've done that so many times that by now I expect you're simply able to imagine it. The tunnel is filthy again and needs cleaning, so bring in the sweepers and pressure washers!

Some moron drove in from Wilmington and left a pile of large garbage items. There needs to be increased police patrols between the entrance to the greenway on Wilmington along all of Water Works St, as illegal dumping is becoming a habit for some people in the area.

The lockable bollard has been broken off at the base and one of the locks has been destroyed. I recommend that the amount of welded steel securing the bollard at the base be doubled. The broken bollard allowed some moron with a truck to get in and dump about a quarter ton of garbage on the side of the trail, which is the subject of my next post. Stay tuned.
