The city is just not going to do anything at all about this? you can smell it across Lafayette Street.

How is it okay for buildings to dump their laundry wastewater or sump pump just right on the sidewalk like it's a third word Island?

The canal along Leslie's Retreat Park is about ten feet deep. The walls of the canal are made of flat wood beams. there is nowhere to climb out of the canal at all. Nowhere.

There is also no fencing or anything at all to keep people on the park side from falling in to this canal.

WHEN a child or dog or even an adult falls in to the canal at mid tide they are going to drown unless there are multiple people around to help and call for more help.

This is seven feet of water and three feet of wet flat wall to climb out of at half tide. Nobody can pull themselves up or of the water and over three feet of wall.

This canal needs emergency ladders or hand holds or something; ANYTHING along these walls.

I reported this months ago and was told "engineering department disagreed."

Again, WHEN someone drowns in this canal I just want people to know the city has been repeatedly told about this. Hopefully this time someone actually goes to look at it and does something.

very tall tree has cracked in half vertically into two large pieces. It is swaying and creaking and one side is definitely going to crack off and drop a foot thick limb that is 30 ft high.

Mattress still here. Four weeks now. the residents now have moved it out of their sight in from of the ARC building next door. Whatever letter the city sent is being ignored.

The litter on Palmer street and its side streets has reached a whole new level of disgusting. Clearly the residents are just not picking anything up so the city really needs to do something here. Go down and just LOOK for one minute. It is a health hazard, it is gross, and it is also an embarrassment that I have to write this! fireworks, food wrappers, bottles and cans, old signs, cardboard boxes, glass everywhere. Do something Salem! There is no way rats are not having a field day down there. The water park is literally surrounded by garbage.

The river walk along Leslie's retreat park is great. There is a very real danger of drowning here however. If you look in the North river there are new wood walls on either side of the river. These walls offer absolutely no grip or hand or foot holds. If someone were to fall in their only option would be to swim up to 100 yards possibly against a strong current to be able to climb out near O'Rourke's.
At mid tide the wall is seven feet high with no hope of a person touching bottom.

Is there some way the city can put even some makeshift 2*4 ladders inside these walls in a couple places in each side?

Honestly, especially in winter, the next person who falls in here or has to go in after a child or dog is going to die. There is no way to get out of the water even if you are in great shape. It's a flat wall. You couldn't design a better trap if you tried.

Please consider this issue, it's completely unsafe.

it is nice that Salem has a summer eats program but seriously can any people involved clean up after it? Look at this hot mess! This park is a dump after every publicly funded event. How does someone in charge let this slide? And if it was from birds or raccoons then the city needs covered trash barrels here. This will be ALL OVER the park later today.

Telephone pole on corner of Lafayette and Chase st is rotted out, the base is cracked, it is going to fall over. A new pole was put in years ago and the old one was left to do nothing. There is a support cable attached to it but now that it is leaning toward the cable, the cable is now only seven feet high over head on the sidewalk.

During the two year long power plant work we've been dealing with on Leavitt street the city opened sidewalks to replace water lines to homes. Some sidewalks were properly repaired with cement and some were just filled with mounds of asphalt. I got a mound of uneven asphalt and would like it replaced with cement like the rest of the sidewalk on the entire block.

The community building the Salem police runs has meals and activities for kids. This is all great but they absolutely need a dumpster. Animals and birds go through the trash every night and this happens.

Sink hole from construction filled in a month ago is still sinking. Filled a report here and it was addressed but it continues to sink.

27 leavitt st. College kids move out, dump mattresses, broken furniture and other junk on the sidewalk and it sits there for weeks.
Landlord should be fined. Happens all the time.
