There has been a serious drainage problem in this spot for several years. It persists despite the recent repaving, and makes it impossible to cross on a bike at any speed without getting a mud bath, even weeks after the most recent rain. As a result, people go off path, contributing to erosion of our park, and more people who would otherwise be attracted to bicycling here choose other options instead, to the detriment of Berkeley's transportation and climate goals.

It may take serious geoengineering as the spot is located between two small hills. But it is needed and long overdue, as this problem dates back at least 8 years.

    Please fix this.

    Thank you.

Before the current landscaping related to new paving is complete, would you please kindly extend the pavement from this ramp that connects the sidewalk to the bike path in such a way as to eliminate this outcropping of dirt which unnecessarily impedes smooth bicycle flow? It would be so simple just to move back of the dirt about 2 yd.² and extend the pavement so it makes a smooth connection. Thank you for considering this. Bicyclists well thank you.

Need for signage to watch for bicycles:

This trail is shared by both bicyclists and pedestrians. Among the pedestrians are large groups of deaf frisbee golf players, who are unable to hear or respond to bicycle bells, and often are totally unaware of oncoming bicycles. This becomes a problem when they do not leave space on the trail for bicycles to easily pass without alerting them. For example if they are staring at their phones or focused on the frisbee game while wandering across the path.

It would be a valuable and inexpensive safety measure to post signage at the entrance to the trail and along the frisbee golf course, for people to watch for bicycle traffic.

    Thank you for considering this.

    Another chronic drainage problem.

Again it hasn’t rained in weeks, and yet this short section of trail is constantly flooded.

The result is that pedestrians and bicyclists can’t pass each other without the pedestrians getting splashed with mud. The usable trail is effectively 1 foot wide here.

Work is needed here to fix a chronic and severe drainage issue. It hasn’t rained in weeks, yet one cannot bicycle through here without a mud bath.

This is a very severe pothole in front of 626 Bolivar Dr..

Needs an immediate patch, even if the road is scheduled for repaving as may be the case with the nearby construction, this is severe and needs immediate attention.

    Thank you.

This spot is extremely dangerous. I imagine it would be expensive to fix and probably require the ramp to be reengineered, so maybe it’s not feasible to fix, but it is extremely dangerous. At this point, a bicyclist descending eastbound from the pedestrian bridge he’s going downhill on a reverse banked curve which becomes blind in the area behind these trees, approximately where their shadows fall in these photos.

All too often, someone is parked there in a vehicle or pedestrians or bicyclists are stopped there in the blind spot.

The signage advising bicyclists to slow down are helpful, but there should also be some sort of sign posted behind the trees telling people do not stop there because it’s very dangerous. It would be worth considering planting less tall trees in place of these ones as well.

Otherwise someone is likely to get seriously injured here.

This turn on the bike trail from the pedestrian bridge down ramp onto the trail alongside frontage road is too sharp. It would be best if it could be widened and made more gradual.

    Thank you for considering this.F

I know this concrete work was just newly done and all, but unfortunately this very tight 90° turn on a reverse banked disability access ramp is extremely hazardous for bicyclists. It would be better to open up and make more gradual the inner side of this curve.

    Thank you for considering this.

This basketball hoop is so broken has to be unusable, and it is now nothing but a disgraceful eyesore. Please either repair or remove it.

This bush grown to this height creates a dangerous blind curve for bicycles going both directions at a point in the path where there is minimal room to diverge.

The bush needs to be regularly trimmed to below shoulder height to allow for visibility in both directions, please.

    Thank you.

The gap between this gate and this concrete trash bin is the only way for bicycles to get through here. With care parked adjacent like the truck pictured here, one has to dismount for a hairpin turn.

Please move the concrete bin 5-10 feet to the north to block off this one parking spot (there's no parking shortage here) and allow bikes to pass smoothly

    Thank you..

This bush blocks visibility when northbound on the frontage road, making southbound traffic invisible around the bend, so that if you want to turn left into the Sea Breeze Market lot, you must guess whether there is oncoming traffic or not. Removal of the bush would allow visibility through the chain link fence.
