West side of lower Church St. sidewalk provides less than a 4' lane and forces pedestrians into risky contact with unmasked diners and workers in a congregant setting. While I acknowledge the relatively lower risk of outdoor vs. interior congregations for the diners, there is now an unnecessary, increased risk for non-patrons trying to safely traverse the public sidewalk. Could the outdoor seating please be tucked up next to the building and a clear path with a safer passageway be created at the curbside for the vulnerable public?

Please see issue: 7767513, now closed without public status changes allowed. If correct that this excavated foundation is filled with water, and a zoning permit has been issued for demolition (without a performance timeline), any foundation filled with stagnant water for more than about 10 days is a perfect breeding place for mosquitoes (and perhaps an attractive nuisance for children). Unless and until drained or routinely treated with mosquito larvicide and, if not already, secured from intrusion by curious children, I believe the City Health Officer can and should see to protection of the public from mosquito-borne transmission of infectious diseases and children from drowning until demolition and filling is carried out. Completion of demolition and and filling of hole within about two weeks would also seem to be a reasonable course. (But what do I know?)

This may be an enforcement, or better, lack-of-enforcement as well as a signage, or lack-of-signage issue along with a signal issue. As I was stopped in traffic on Main St. at around 3:45 p.m. today, I watched as pedestrians attempted with great difficulty to cross Main St. from East Terrace toward East Ave. With the pedestrian-crossing lights illuminated and while in the crosswalk gesticulating, trying to make eye contact with drivers, and creeping forward, they were repeatedly cut off by right-turning drivers who seemed to be looking to their left for oncoming vehicular traffic while creeping forward. Finally, one driver stopped for them but the pickup truck behind swung left around the stopped car and then right, nearly hitting the finally advancing pedestrians. They completed their ordeal by running for their lives across Main St. as the crossing time wound down to zero.
