Graffiti Archived23rd St & 8th Ave New Westminster, British Columbia, V3M, CAN - New WestminsterSupport pillars for BCRTC Skytrain have been tagged with black, silver, and white paint. Almost all pillars between London Place and 23rd St. have been hit.

Graffiti Archived23rd St & 8th Ave New Westminster, British Columbia, V3M, CAN - New WestminsterLight posts along BC Parkway between 23rd and London Place - almost all of them tagged with either graffiti or stickers, some on the post itself, some on the concrete base. Previously confirmed that these are city property, not BCRTC. Some hits are black sharpie, some are black, silver, and white paint.

Graffiti Archived799-799 23rd St New Westminster, British Columbia, V3M, CAN - New WestminsterBlack sharpie used on light post circled in red just east of 23rd along the BC Parkway. Previously confirmed that these lights are City property, not BCRTC.

Graffiti ArchivedBoyd St & Hwy-91a New Westminster, British Columbia, V3M, CAN - New WestminsterMany, many tags on the light post under the bridge (I think that's city property), on the support pillars, on the lower west-side face of the bridge below the sidewalk (where the ground and the overpass meet), and on the side of the concrete barrier separating the sidewalk from the traffic all the way up to where the "bridge-proper" starts (and even many tags all along the bridge all the way to the north side, including on signage, but the forementioned ones are new).

Graffiti Archived2320 Dublin St New Westminster, British Columbia, V3M 3B4, CAN - New WestminsterOne hit of what looks like yellow fluorescent paint on the pillar that has been painted grey (middle one of the 11 between London and 23rd, I think), and one hit of blue paint on the second or third (I think) pillar to the east of there.
-
Graffiti Archived799-799 23rd St New Westminster, British Columbia, V3M, CAN - New WestminsterTwo hits, both on the face of the concrete bases of light posts. One is as shown in the pic (I think I've got the right post). Looks like purple sharpie, I think. The other is on the fourth light-post (I think I counted right) west of 23rd along the same path (opposite direction from the way the pic is facing).

Fire Hydrant possibly blocked Archived841-1099 S Dyke Rd New Westminster, British Columbia, V3M 4Z9, CAN - New WestminsterThe fire hydrant on the north side of Dyke Rd has two poles that are supposed to protect it from impacts from vehicles. They're doing their job, but from what I can tell it is possible that the one on the east side has been pushed over so badly that fire crews may not be able to (at least swiftly) hook up their hose to it. I could be wrong, but at least worth a look. Would hate to see a fire happen and crews can't hook up their equipment.

Graffiti Archived734 Boyd St New Westminster, British Columbia, V3M, CAN - New WestminsterSign on a light post. Supposed to say something like "Cyclists yield to pedestrians" but there are so many stickers and so much graffiti on the face of the sign (and on the back of it, too) that you can barely even make out "cyclists". Pretty sure the light post is New West, but seems the sign would make sense to be MoT.

Graffiti Archived2308 Edinburgh St New Westminster, British Columbia, V3M 2Y4, CAN - New WestminsterBlue spray paint on two of the concrete Skytrain support pillars. Start from 22nd and head north/west. I think it's the second and fourth pillars in from there.

City Trees Archived2320 London St New Westminster, British Columbia, V3M 3G4, CAN - New Westminster
Tree blown down across the gravel "side path" of the BC Parkway along the stretch just south/east of London Pl.
Might be BCRTC jurisdiction.

Graffiti Archived2315 9th Ave New Westminster, British Columbia, V3M, CAN - New WestminsterGreen spray paint wording on the wood retaining wall to the right of the southern-most (eastern-most?) bench.
-
Graffiti Archived2315 9th Ave New Westminster, British Columbia, V3M, CAN - New WestminsterMulti-colour graffiti on concrete retaining wall that faces BC Parkway. Not sure if this is Private Property (part of the property of the lot of the house), Public Property (part of New Westminster's responsibility), or BCRTC. I suspect one of the first two.

Graffiti Archived734 Boyd St New Westminster, British Columbia, V3M, CAN - New WestminsterThank you New West crews for taking care of your end well, but please pass along to MoT: RIP TJ graffiti on Q'boro Bridge support pillar - originally reported Feb 25, originally cleaned up same day, then second tag appeared, about 10ft x 10ft, on Feb 27 (see issue 5449569). Advised on that issue that "crews will monitor". Well, it seems, three weeks later, that monitor means "yep, it's still there", not "let's get rid of it". If we don't clean it right as soon as it's tagged, the tagger has confidence that his work is worth it 'cause it'll be a while before it gets cleaned up - makes this kind of stuff proliferate.
-
Graffiti Archived2315 9th Ave New Westminster, British Columbia, V3M, CAN - New WestminsterI'm sure this one is for BCRTC. Please forward to them. Thank you. Extremely large hit in black spray paint on skytrain retaining wall along BC Parkway.

Graffiti Archived734 Boyd St New Westminster, British Columbia, V3M, CAN - New WestminsterRIP TJ graffiti. Multiple LARGE hits including no-post road barriers along Boyd Street and at least two of the Q'boro Bridge support pillars.

Graffiti Archived737 Boyd Street New Westminster, British Columbia - New Westminster
If we don't tackle graffiti as soon after the tag is put up as possible, these miscreants get the idea that the tagging is worth it 'cause it stays up for a while.
Three tags (first one was previously reported, but nothing has been done yet).
The Q'boro Connector support pillars on the south side of Boyd have graffiti on two of them. One tag is a "RIP" message, the other is multiple instances of skulls.
The third place where you will find the graffiti is on the west side of the Q'boro Connector on the north-west facing small retaining wall right below the "age stamp" (I think that's what it is). It's small writing that was probably done with a fat sharpie. This is the same place that is regularly getting tagged. When passing the message to MoT, please press with them the idea of ensuring that they hit these swiftly. The first of these tags went up less than 2 days after the MoT contractor cleaned up the last set.
Thank you for helping to keep our streets clean and safe!
-
Graffiti Archived737 Boyd Street New Westminster, British Columbia - New WestminsterSame tagger back again. South face of west support pillar on south side of Boyd. Might want to let MoT know that this tagger is persistent and likely to be back each time, and is happy to have his/her tag up for however long. Will have to be just as persistent to shut this cycle down.

Graffiti Archived2323 9 Avenue New Westminster, British Columbia - New Westminster
White spray paint on west asphalt curb about 1/2 way along the works yard, and black spray paint on the fence at the north end of the works yard, just before Southridge Dr.
Oh, and they still haven't removed the "Veli" that has been written in black marker on most of the support pillars from 22nd St Station west to 9th Ave.
-
Graffiti Archived734 Boyd Street New Westminster, British Columbia - New WestminsterThe west face of the base of the light post was previously painted dark green to cover previous tags. Now it has a new hit of what looks like either large black marker or black paint. Can't remember for sure but I think this light post was city property.
