Wayne St Ann Arbor, MI, 48104, USA - Ann Arbor
I phoned the City Offices to find out the best way to send a special "Thank you" to a city employee and she suggested using A2Fixit.
She also said it was ok to use the person's name on the posting.
So I would like to give a special Thanks to Kevin Roberson who found my wallet and returned it to our front door.
He also stopped by to make sure that I saw it on the front step.
We appreciate the great work that the City staff does on maintaining the city and also keeping an eye out for us.
    Best wishes to Mr. Robeson.
    Gratefully, from Sue Black

very old teak swing with one missing and one loose seat planks.
It gets lots of use by small children and parents with babies.
Risky. We get nervous working that kids will get hurt.
We would like to make a contribution to replacing if the parks dept. could provide another teak bench since it has held up so well for the thousands of uses this one has had .

Large limb down over path in park; other large dead branches dangling near wires after Sunday storm went through.
Also , dense overgrowth of vines, shrubs throughout park .

Used to do "Adopt aPark" -- not sure if program still exists but I cleared the park of large dead limbs and branches during "shelter in Place" since park is across the street from us on the Wayne st side.
Branches too large for compost container or bagging. Could they be removed from the lawn extension/ easement on the Wayne st. side at your convenience ?
    thank you

    No problem just compliments !
This is just a big "thank you " to the City Forestry Management and Davey tree company for the great job they are doing in the area.
We did thank the tree trimmers directly, too.
A few years ago, we got permission from the City to hire and pay for the trimming ourselves because our lawn extension tree growth exceeded the city's trimming schedule. So, it was great to come home and see the great job Davey did .
  • 1800 Vinewood To 2300 Vinewood Plus Ann Arbor, Michigan - Ann Arbor
The Vinewood blvd median from Washtenaw going 5 or 6 blocks toward Avon has vegetation
(grass) the measures 24 to 36 inchest tall
    as of Wednesday, May 23.
On behalf of several neighbors who have asked us about it, we are wondering if you will be cutting the median before the holiday weekend.
We are cutting part of the 2100 block median but no one has done the rest of it.
    Thank you.
  • 2002 Wayne At Corner Of Vinewood Ann Arbor, Michigan - Ann Arbor
Roots from tree on lawn extension in front of 2002 Wayne near corner of Vinewood have cracked and lifted sidewalk block one to two inches. Even replacing the 80 year old sidewalk block won't keep tree roots from pulling up new cement. This corner has high use for walkers and kids biking and the concern is for a considerable tripping hazard.
So issues are twofold: 1. tree needs to come down and
    2. sidewalk needs repair.
    Thank you for checking this.

As part of Adopt -a- Park, I try to clean out large branches and limbs that have fallen in the park and overall, keep an eye on the park.
I put small branches in my compost but cannot process what is placed at the Vinewood lawn extension at the entrance of the park.
Could the City staff pick this up the next time a truck is in the area.
As always, thank you for your good work.

Earlier in the spring, a request was made to clean the weeds, overgrown brush in this small park.
    Its looking pretty bad.
Additionally, there is an eyesore of broken cyclone fence that was twisted by a fallen tree on the property line.
Is it possible to have someone come out to assess the park and come up with a plan for cleanup and restoration of the park. Thank you
  • Postmans Rest Park Ann Arbor, Michigan - Ann Arbor
Grass is cut regularly on the lawn extension but vegetation (including vines and possibly poison ivy) and trash shrubs are beyond my being able to care for it. (ala Adopt-A - Park)
The wild flowers are done blooming for the season and we are hoping that the park could get a good weed whacking.
The swing, bench and table and sidewalks get a good workout by neighborhood kids.
Last year, I had requested an evaluation of the park to see if all or one side if it could be back hoed and have grass put in so there would be some play area for kids who use the park.
I have not heard back, one way or the other.
I figured that it is worth a request again.
Thank your for your considering this. .
  • Vinewood At Wayne/ Postman'S Rest Park Ann Arbor, Michigan - Ann Arbor
Branches not cleared. Cleaned a large amount of limbs and branches out of Postman's Rest Park for the March 20 special pickup -- placed on lawn extension near Vinewood entrance to the Park.
(Work done as part of the Adopt- A -Park program.) Anyone else I should contact ?
Thanks again for the nice new signs in park.

Large amounts of leaves never get picked up on Wayne st. around Postman's Rest Park because residents with appropriate parking permits are always parked on top of the leaves. (We don't use street parking). I push broomed a huge pile of STREET ONLY leaves into a heap near 1919 Wayne into the "No Parking" area. None of these leaves are from anyone's yard, just totally from 6 street parking spaces.
I hope this is helpful to our city workers but I also want to make sure that no one is ticketed and that the leaves are cleared.
Also, Postman's Rest needs a proper sign designating it as a City Park so that outsourced agencies hired to do park and street maintenance know that its city property. Thank you
  • 1919wayne Wayne at Vinewood, Ann Arbor, Michigan - Inkster
Almost 4 weeks now the street lights are out at 1919 Wayne and a second light at Vinewood and Wayne at Postman's Rest Park. the corner is extremely dark.
I was told try A2 fixit that this was a DTE issue and also was told that the Lights were fixed (they never were).
The traffic with the Sorority at Vinewood and Washtenaw is intense. They use Wayne street to turn onto Vinewood to park (without neighborhood park Permits) on Vinewood.
I called DTE again today-- spoke with a rep phone 734 3974091.
I am reporting this again as a safety/ security issue.
    Thank you.

Because the dry weather makes for minimal grass cutting, could a proper cleanup of weeds, vines, vegetation trash trees, brush, dying trees be considered in Postman's rest park?
Better yet, an entire restoring of the park might be in order.
We were just in Saugatuck and there were 2 corner parks similar in size to Postman's Rest, beautifully kept up and landscaped.
It might be best if this park was bulldozed , graded and planted with grass and flowers that I would be happy to maintain.
I had "adopted" this Park in the past, but now its too out of control for me to accomplish anything. People who walk by who don't know the area is a city park and think that it's neglected private property and are surprised it's public since there is no Signage.
Who do I work with to get this park redone ? I will gladly water grass etc.
Please consider this and thank you.

No water at all or very low pressure today and yesterday.
I suggest that the city website have a dedicated site to post issues like this to notify residents who there is an emergency or an issue to give us "heads up" .
It should run like a "newsfeed" on a city site with continual updates of issues or emergencies around town.
The Daily updates are ok but there should be a City wide continuous newsfeed or issues.
    thank you

Large limb down in street since last week. too large for compost.
Also, the park vegetation and trash trees need to be cleaned out. Dead branches in various other trees.
I tried to keep up with clearing the park but needs much more than I can do.

I contacted the Adopt a Park Program on !2/2/15 about a huge rotten tree portion on private property at the corner of Vinewood and Wayne that crashed a cyclone fence and landed in Postman's Rest Park. The diameter of the fallen tree part is 2 1/2 feet in diameter. Chelsea Bucknarish had the City Forestry dept out. The Forester said that the fallen and remaining rotten portion needs to be taken care of by the property owner. That was almost 3 months ago.The tree itself has been down 4 months.
Some of the tree was cut into smaller chunks, not sure if the City or Property owner did this but the debris remains.
There are 3 more trees along the Vinewood side of the Park that are
    rotting near the tops also.
I sent photos to Chelsea Bucknarish last fall.
In 2014, I paid a city approved tree service to trim the 2 trees on the Wayne st lawn extension by our house because the City wasn't sure how long it would take for them to get to it.
    Thank you for your help.
Should I contact Parks Dept., Community Standards or the City council person --- not sure who is best to get help getting the homeowner to clear their mess.
I wrote to Chelsea Bucknarish about 9 days ago but have not heard if she was able to get a response yet.
