1139 Highland Avenue Needham, MA, 02494, USA - NeedhamIn the last year, I have seen more and more people treating the southbound direction of Highland Ave as two lanes going southbound. The key problem is both lanes are traveling straight through the light. The people in the right lane seem to think the people in the left lane are turning left onto Rosemary, which they can't even legally do. It is creating a hazardous situation with two cars trying to enter the single lane on the opposite side by Sudbury Farms. I have always assumed that even though the area next to the library is very wide that it is still a single lane of traffic in that direction. Could you please paint lanes in this area? Either a single lane and maybe add that criss/cross paint indicating not a lane, or paint a right turn only and a straight lane? This needs to be clearer before someone gets hurt. I never saw this happen prior to 2023, suddenly it started happening and others are copying the behavior.

You can only exit on this road, no one can enter here. But people treat it like someone might enter and so they are in the right side taking a left turn. Meanwhile, someone turning left from the left lane is then faced with a car potentially turning into them at the same time. Clearer lane markings with turns would be helpful here.
