My family of 3 has been residing in a CHD Shelter Unit 205 since the ending of February of 2024. Since our move in there have been numerous incidents where water has been leaking throughout the buildings walls and ceilings of the units within the building. I have complained numerous times to my caseworker and I have written statements from tenant(s) who’ve lived here longer than my family. According to my caseworker via the Property Management they will come when they have the staff to send to the property. It has been over a month of my waiting on this request and nothing has been done. I have a child under 3 months of age and I don’t know whether the building is up to code. I do not want my child breathing in harmful toxins such as mold or lead. I have completed a form which allow as my family to leave the unit until the matter is resolved. However I do not feel that property management is taking this matter seriously because they have not sent anyone to resolve the ongoing issue. Other tenants that have lived in the building over 2 years have said nothing has been done about the same issue my family faces within the unit. Please send proper authorities to assist with the inspection of the building making sure it is deemed livable conditions for us.

The property is littered with trash. The house looks like there may be a potential hoarding issue as well. The garage is also missing panels allowing wildlife to enter easily. I hope some mental health support can be made available for the residents in addition to cleaning up the property. This has been an ongoing issue and it seems like cleanups are just a temporary fix.

Entire sidewalk and greenbelt area needs to be cleaned if accumulated trash. So sad that this is a relatively new building but no maintenance of the grounds.

Raccoon lumbering slowly in backyard, difficulty climbing fence, slow and unfazed by door closing sound.
  • 497 Hillside Avenue Holyoke, Massachusetts, 01040 - Holyoke
Shrubs overgrown over the fence line making it difficult to pass, frequent overflowing trash/yard waste left on sidewalk for days on end forcing pedestrians into oncoming traffic to pass. Not safe for folks in wheelchairs or with strollers. Shrubs have needed maintenance for years and trash is a recurring problem.

I left a message on the general mailbox that my recycling along with my neighbor across the street and next door did not have our recycling picked up today. It is clear that the rest of the street/neighborhood was serviced. Since this is every other week I would appreciate if someone came and picked it up.

Searching on the city website to find what day trash is collected brings you to this page: https://www.holyoke.org/question/when-is-my-trash-scheduled-to-be-picked-up/#/city/answers/trash-and-recycling/when-is-my-trash-scheduled-to-be-picked-up
Which links to an outdated 2023 recycling calendar and has zero information about what day trash is picked up in each neighborhood.

In addition the recycling calendar (including the current 2024 one) doesn't explain the difference between a green or blue week, while using a green header block above blue text talking about what goes into blue recycling bins. So is the green block indicating the recycling information relates to a green week? Or do blue bins and blue a text colors mean it's related to a blue week?

And how about making the thing printable? The blue and green colors turn to gray when printing on a b/w printer, so they become meaningless. And if pickup is every other week, why have two sets of shading on the calendar to begin with - just shade the pickup weeks and leave the other weeks alone. That would eliminate any questions about what a green or blue week are, as well as the issue with printing when someone doesn't have a color printer.

I went out early this morning to do errands. My trash was not emptied at the time so I left. When I came home my trash was emptied so I looked in the trash receptacle and discovered someone dropped their dog extrament in a plastic bag. Over the past months people drop plastic bags in my container. I am a senior citizen and walk with a cane. The container is too large for me to clean and handle....AND how can I empty the plastic bags and the dog extrament (in a plastic bag)?
