Illegal Dumping Archived44 Emery Street Medford, MA, 02155, USA - Medford
The 44 Emery Street trash and recycling carts have been at the curb for a week now. Last week WAS recycling but the recycling cart was filled with trash so it was not collected and this week is NOT recycling so the recycling carts will be ignored this week, too.
In the background you can see other refuse that needs to be disposed of but, instead, with the wind that is expected, it will probably blow down the street along with the contents of the carts.
The plates on the cars are MN and NC and in the fall of 2020, there were eight Tufts undergraduates who claimed this address.

Sidewalk Issue (asphalt/concrete) Archived27 Emery Street Medford, MA, 02155, USA - MedfordNext to the driveway, between the sidewalk and the curb, the soil is 6-8 inches below the sidewalk. Today I witnessed a woman pushing a stroller and the left front wheel went off the sidewalk and the stroller fell into the hole. Luckily, the woman caught the stroller and pulled it and the baby it was carrying back up onto the sidewalk. A serious injury to an infant was averted this time.

Snow/Ice Removal Archived50 Winthrop St Medford, MA, 02155, USA - MedfordIn addition to the sidewalk in FRONT of this nuisance house, the sidewalk on the SIDE is also unshoveled and, as is often the case, the refuse containers have been left on the sidewalk for nearly a week making it even harder to pass.

Missed Trash or Recycling Pickup Archived34 Emery St Medford, MA, 02155, USA - MedfordYard waste pickup was scheduled for Thursday 7-Nov. On Emery Street, our leaves are still in barrels and bags at the curb. There has been rain since they were put out and there will be frozen leaves in disintegrating bags if WM doesn't pick them up today.

Traffic Issue ArchivedCapen St & Winthrop St Medford, MA, 02155, USA - Medford
For some time (weeks perhaps) here has been an orange traffic cone in the Somerville-bound side of Winthrop Street just past Capen Street. When you turn right from Capen Street onto Winthrop, you have to swing wide to avoid the cone but that brings you into, or at least dangerously close to, the traffic coming from Somerville and headed down the hill toward Boston Avenue.
It looks like a sinkhole has developed around some water- or sewer-related element in the roadway and presumably that explains the cone. Anyone care to speculate when something more satisfactory and permanent than the marker will appear. The cone may avoid damage to a tire or a rim at the cost of two fenders or two bumpers when you encounter oncoming traffic while avoiding this obstacle.

Thanks to Street Sweeping crew ArchivedEmery Street MEDFORD, MA - Medford
(Can I use SeeClickFix for kudos as well as complaints?)
The broom crew did an especially good job last time (28-Nov). It happened more than a week ago, but I still want to say that I appreciate a well-swept street. Thanks.

Missed Yard Waste Pickup ArchivedEmery Street MEDFORD, MA - MedfordYard waste removal, scheduled for Thursday, is still uncollected on Saturday.

Missed Yard Waste Pickup Archived34 Emery Street MEDFORD, MA - MedfordYard waste (scheduled for pickup yesterday) remains uncollected at the end of the day today. I fear that the paper bags that have been left at the curb will disintegrate in the rain that is forecast and the leaves will be in the street for the next month.

Traffic Signal Issue Archived57 Winthrop Street Medford, Massachusetts - MedfordTraveling northeast-bound on Winthrop Street there are two sets of signal lights at the Boston Avenue intersection. In the cluster mounted on the post on the east corner (in front of Hillside Cleaners) the green signal light does not illuminate. (The red and amber signal lights are working.) The signal cluster suspended from the boom over the intersection is working but the driver of the first vehicle (and perhaps the second) can't see that signal and must rely on the signal that isn't functioning.

Other Archived2 Capen Street Medford, Massachusetts - MedfordOften (though not always) there is water leaking in/onto the street at the corner of Capen and Winthrop. It may be percolating up from the supply to the hydrant there. (It doesn't seem to be coming from the hydrant itself.) Sometimes last winter it produced a non-trivial glacier but often it's just puddles or wet pavement.
