Faded crosswalk at busy intersection on Bellevue Avenue from Dixon Street to Parker Avenue needs repainting, badly faded. Cars drive quickly past pedestrians and are not noticing them or the crosswalk creating a potentially dangerous situation. Many drivers are looking at The Elms sign rather than the crosswalk.

I am available at any time if necessary and have several photos of the limb pulling down the cable lines if you need them (see attached). The oak tree is located directly in front of 22 Carroll Avenue, Fifth Ward, Newport, Rhode Island. The very long limb extends across our driveway and over the neighbor's front yard. I'd really appreciate removal of the limb asap because the noise from it rubbing the cables on a windy day is driving me nuts! Thank you!

Pedestrian crosswalks at intersection of Bellevue & Narragansett not working when crossing Narragansett Avenue in both directions. We push the button, but the white signal doesn't light when traffic signals change from red to green. Creates a dangerous situation for vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians at this very busy intersection. This has been an issue off and on at this location for a long time. Is there anything that can be done to fix it once and for all? I'm afraid someone will get hurt. Thanks -

Bellevue Avenue Sidewalk Complete Surface Deterioration Dangerous and Uncomfortable for Pedestrians (Along the entire avenue on both sides from Bailey's Beach to the Newport Casino, Tennis Hall of Fame):

I absolutely agree that the Bellevue Avenue sidewalks need to be redone! They are not only extremely uncomfortable to walk along, even in good tennis shoes, but also very dangerous for many pedestrians and joggers. If Newport wants to maintain status as a world class tourist destination, i.e. the improvements of Gilded Age mansions by the Preservation Society of Newport County, then the Bellevue Avenue sidewalks must be improved. This is an investment in the future of Newport and can't be taken lightly. I have been advocating for years about the need to improve Bellevue, including repairs to the constantly broken pedestrian cross-walk signals. Which, by the way still only partially work even though I was assured they had been repaired multiple times. - Please help repair the Bellevue Avenue sidewalks, it is the most important pedestrian walkway in Newport - because although one might think "wouldn't people rather take a car or bus to visit the mansions?" - my answer is no, because the point of coming here is to slow down for a few days, relax and enjoy a pace of life once primarily experienced on foot in conversation with friends and family. That is the point of this great city. Let's not ruin that experience for generations to come by being the generation who dropped the ball and failed to maintain the city's most basic infrastructure. - Rob

Homeless man left several possessions propped up against the King Mansion gate post adjacent to a children's playground today located at the entrance drive on Bowery Street to the King Mansion Senior Center in Newport, Rhode Island. The man then walked away heading east on Bowery St. The children's playground is at the intersection of King Street and Bowery Street. I have included a photograph of the abandoned bags.

This issue is not closed - these pedestrian cross-walk signals at Bellevue & Narragansett STILL DO NOT WORK as of 6:45 Wednesday evening, August 3rd, 2016. Why would I be given a message that the work when they clearly do not work? Please fix them. It is still a dangerous intersection! Very difficult to cross!

Abandoned disassembled bicycle chained inside fence in Eisenhower Park (Washington Square Park), Newport, Rhode Island. It is missing wheels and seat, should be removed from fence as it detracts from the park at the base of the Perry monument. Tourists taking pictures commented that it looked bad, wondered why it was not removed by the city.

Dangerously rigged electric pole at Pope Street & Anthony Street is attached to another electric pole and propped up on a pile of wood which neighbors said they have had to slip back into place from time to time with a large hammer. Very dangerously constructed, as the pole holds many wires for Pope Street & Anthony Street. Also, the only sign for "Anthony Street" is attached to this pole but hidden behind and difficult to view from the streets.

The intersection of Bowery Street & Anthony Street needs a stop sign with an "Anthony Street" sign also. There has not been a marker for Anthony Street at this intersection prior to new construction and makes it difficult to identify the street. Also, this metal post has been exposed without an orange cone for several days now and is a hazard for pedestrians and all the children in the neighborhood. It should be covered until the new sign is placed on it. I attached a photo of the intersection of Bowery & Anthony Streets.
