The manhole cover in front of 77 Thames Street has been rattling ever since it was opened more than a week ago for lengthy sewer work by a company from Massachusetts. Workers discarded a rotted gasket that wasn't replaced and the manhole cover returned to is past history of bouncing. City workers such as Louie Alves and Rob Norton have consistently responded to this situation over the years. I hope that will be the case again.
I have sent pictures of the manhole cover on earlier situations.
    Respectfully,

The electrical wire is swaying in wind. May have come untethered from recent wind storm. A potential dangerous situation?

This morning Louis Alves and a fellow city worker did some work on the sewer sites on Thames and Coddington. The manhole covers were replaced and at least one of them is bouncing loudly when run over in in traffic. Respectfully ask for them to be readjusted.

A new manhole cover and extensive surrounding work of this issue was addressed with concrete, then covered with a protective plate. Last Friday final work was done. The new manhole cover still bounces when car tires hit it full on. It's 5:50 a m. Tuesday and the double bounce is back. City personnel have been great in the past in this continual problem. I'm confident that is still the case.

Sorry to bother you guys again from 77 Thames Street, but the nearest manhole cover marked sewer is acting up again at the corner of Thames and Coddington. I was told a newer cover similar to the one in the picture would be eventually a replacement. Actually a city hall employee came to my place, gave me a card, and said to call me with any further problems. I'm embarrassed to admit I can't find the card!
Louie Alves and many other employees have been wonderful in the past.
Stay safe and healthy in these unprecedented times.

lSorry to bother you folks again about this manhole cover at the intersection of 77 Thames and Coddington, but it's bouncing again. If a rubber gasket was put in recently it's not working, perhaps slipped off.
By the way, there is still an orange safety cone on the nearby Coddington sidewalk that has been picked up from previous maintenance stops.
You have always promptly responded in the past.
I hope that will be the case again.
Stay safe and healthy and have a wonderful holiday weekend.

Sorry to bug you guys again. The manhole is making its double noise whenever it's hit on the top half closest to the intersect to Coddington.
The indefatigable Louie Alves and another friendly employee were on the scene yesterday, but it was making little noise.
I checked and saw this issue was addressed in March, but I recall no rubber dampener was used.
The guys yesterday said they would come back and recheck it. By the way, one of those orange rubber cones is still on a side walk.
The department has always been great about this in the past.

This sewer grate is bouncing noisely again. It has been quickly addressed in the past, but I recall the last time no rubber snake-like strip was used, just a cleaning out around the the top inside.
Just saw Louie Alves ride by in a big city truck and gave a shoutout to one of the best RHS linemen ever.
He has tackled this problem in the past and hope he's still up to the task.
Thanks for all his and his current teammates help over the years.
Regards and stay safe and healthy.

Manhole cover is bouncing and making a loud noise. You folks often led by Louie Alves have been great addressing this issue in the past.
Hoping you are staying safe and healthy in these unprecedented times.

Reported this less than an hour ago.
Heard some work being done outside my front window. Personable young man named Dan was
    fixing the problem!
What a response time from city personnel, just like in the past - thanks Louie Alves and others - for handling the situation.

Manhole cover rattles loudly from vehicle tires.
This is a common issue over the years that the city has addressed very well at this spot.

Reported this issue on Monday morning. Giovanni and Mike responded just before noon. Mike came back less than three hours later with what looks like a new manhole cover that's a snug fit.
Thanks also to Louie and Kevin for earlier responses to this issue.
The sounds of silence are wonderful.
    Great communication by everyone involved.

i' credit Louie and Kevin for prompt service regarding this issue on two previous occasions, but the round gasket put under the manhole cover is ineffective soon after installation.
It's as loud as ever. There are noticeable gaps around the perimeter and when cars roll over the manhole it bounces. I noticed that a manhole in front of WalMart is partly covered on top with a sealant.
Appreciate the prompt responses in the past, but the situation still exists.
Hope the third time is the charm.

Manholes on Thames on Feb. 7 were opened by department employees. When they were put back the noises when cars went over them could be heard up and down upper Thames.
This has been an issue in the past. I used this Click it in April 2016 to rectify the situation. Gaskets were finally put in on the nearest manhole in front of 77 Thames Street seven months later.
Things were fine until yesterday. The two employees were polite and said they would look into it, but the noise is still there and heavy traffic makes the situation more than annoying.
I'm retired and in my 70's as is my next-door neighbor. We have been living here for decades and don't want to throw our backs out repositioning these covers.
Gaskets I was told were used the last time. I hope I don't have to wait seven months for this issue again to be resolved.
    Thank you

There are two manhole "sewer" covers at the corner of Coddington and Thames. When traffic tires hit them lately they have a slight bounce and make a noise that's getting a bit annoying. It's not a major issue, but I think it could be quickly halted if the covers were adjusted or the interiors padded.
Thanks for any help in this matter as my main bedroom is only a few yards above them.
Regards and kudos for this new addition to the city website.
