Sidewalk has not been cleared over the bridge.
  • Winthrop St Medford MA 02155, United States - Medford
The barriers placed on either side of the crosswalk on Winthrop Street force cyclists to veer into the lane of traffic. There are no bicycle markings on the road indicating where it’s safe to ride. Maybe there should be a gap for bicycles or a different way to protect pedestrians without endangering cyclists .

Weeds are growing over the sidewalk on both sides of Route 16 at the train bridge. This needs to be maintained because there is a lot of pedestrian traffic here and it is too dangerous to step into the road to pass by. Also the weeds include poison ivy on at least one side.

Pedestrian light signal is not working properly. Crossing from the river towards Whole Foods, the numbers on the crosswalk sign are not visible.

South Street And Main Street Medford, Massachusetts - Medford
It is already a problem that this intersection is not signalized. That absolutely needs to be dealt with. but the problem is exacerbated many times over when there is construction at this intersection blocking lanes of traffic - including the entrance onto Route 93 - and there is no signage anywhere along South Street warning people about the road closure and lane reduction. Construction vehicles were literally in the middle of the intersection, digging up the pavement in the travel lane, but there was not a single detail posted on the south side of the overpass. Cars expecting to go straight onto 93 were forced to turn left instead, so that they ended up blocking the right lane for people waiting to turn right. (You only found this out after waiting 30 minutes to get to the front of the cue on South Street and discover there are trucks blocking the entrance to the ramp.) There are many police stationed on the other side of the overpass directing traffic through the reduced lanes - which results in a steady stream of cars coming southbound on Main Street (where there are usually periodic pauses when the lights change in Medford Square.) Because of the way that traffic was being steadily funneled down Main Street, cars coming from South Street never had a chance to pull out of the intersection.

I am happy that there is construction underway to make this intersection safer, but I am concerned that there is no effort to make this area safe for pedestrians in the mean time. The sidewalk is blocked on both sides of South Street at the intersection, the visibility is poor, and there are no signs or cones indicating how pedestrians should get around the construction to continue from South street onto Winthrop or across Winthrop. A temporary pedestrian crossing sign in the middle of Winthrop would help, at least to slow traffic down and indicate where to cross. Cones marking a temporary pedestrian passage around the construction on either side would also help.

Multiple times the police have been called to check on school-aged children in this vicinity because they were waiting for a bus or they were seen briefly playing on the sidewalk near their house in bare feet. It is justifiably frightening to children and their parents and potentially harmful to families when there are public safety calls on them without any reasonable cause, and ridiculous to have a cruiser drive the wrong way up the street with flashing lights to check on a child in bare feet. These calls are a waste of public safety resources and send a message that children cannot leave their homes because they will get in trouble with the police if anyone sees them.

This tree poses imminent hazards - dead branches overhanging street, sidewalk, electrical wires.
