I find it so ironic that Medford Rehabilitation and Nursing Center often fails to clear their sidewalks. None of the sidewalks outside their property are cleared - Winthrop st or High st. Do they want new clients after someone falls or is hit by a car because people are forced to walk on the road itself?

Shame on them because they're a business and should have no excuse and double shame on them because their business is in rehabbing people after an illness or injury.

As you drive on Harvard heading towards W Medford Sq, the tree on the right is blocking the traffic light as you approach Boston Ave - if you didn't know this intersection well, you could blow right through the light - the tree branches just need to be trimmed back for safety.

Pedestrian button appears to not be working (on Northeast corner of intersection). Had to wait at least 4 cycles of the light, and then crossed the street because couldn't wait for walk signal. Even if this isn't technically 'broken', we need to change this so pedestrians don't have to wait at least 2 cycles - it's too long, should just be 1 cycle to wait for.
  • 187 High St Medford, MA - Medford

    1. We need to identify the resident who owns this land around 183-187 High. They need to shovel, or be fined for not shoveling this stretch of sidewalk which had a lot of foot traffic
    2. The city plowed onto the sidewalk, effectively blocking 2 crosswalks and making it difficult to access the mbta bus or cross through this intersection. This needs to be cleared.

    3. How long does the MBTA to shovel their bus stops?

I'm wondering why there isn't a blinking yellow Left turn arrow for cars that are coming down Winthrop and trying to make a left turn onto Rt 16. The sign says to yield on green, but no one obeys that, and usually about 3 cars continue to turn, even as the green arrow disappears. Other similar intersections either have a red L arrow, or a blinking yellow, which are more obvious. The problem is the cars heading north on Winthrop have to deal with cars either blocking the intersection because they failed to yield, or there are near collisions because north-bound cars have the right of way and start driving, only to find that the oncoming traffic is not yielding. Is a blinking yellow possible here? Again, it seems like it could be an easy fix. Thanks so much.
  • 101 Main Street Medford, Massachusetts - Medford

While trying to walk to the Police Station to meet with Chief Sacco about pedestrian safety in Medford, I was shocked at how difficult and extremely unsafe it is to cross Main St. Whichever way you approach the station, it is dangerous as a pedestrian. There is a traffic signal at the intersection of South St and Main St, but the signals aren't activated, and there is no pedestrian button to push if the signals were even working. I was dressed in bright colors and am very pregnant, yet no one stopped for me - Waiting by a fluorescent yellow crosswalk sign, with a clearly painted crosswalk on the road. When there was a short lull in traffic, I decided to start crossing, only to have cars speed through and nearly not stop, and another car try to pass the car that decided to stop. It was scary, and yet another intersection in Medford where it's unnecessarily unsafe.

Why isn't this signal working? The cars comign from South St trying to cross Main St are also in a difficult situation, and it would be easily remedied by the traffic lights being activated. Please address this ASAP, as it's a quick fix.

This is another dangerous intersection. As far as I know, there is no yield sign, yet it's a busy merging area - cars coming from Rt 16 and cars coming from Main St coming onto Rt 16 or going towards 93. It's a straightaway, so people are usually speeding, and no one knows who yields to whom. Easy fix with a yield sign! thanks

We live right by this rotary and nearly every week there's a crash. Luckily most of them are minor, but I either see, or experience, close calls and it's only a matter of time before i'm hit - either as a driver or a pedestrian. I know there's a memorial in the middle, but if that can't be changed in the short term, then there really needs to be an increase in signage and clearer paint on the road. The first thing people need to do is SLOW DOWN. Signs with posted speed limit as people approach rotary, or signs saying "DANGEROUS ROTARY AHEAD". This could be a perfect pilot project for Complete Streets coming to Medford
