As the kids head back to school I wanted to once again bring this issue to the City's attention.

The side walk on east side of Texas St NE and on the north side of Mountain Rd NE is partially blocked by debris (sand, gravel, and rocks) that runs off from the Hayes School property. This sidewalk is used by children going to the Alice King Community School to the north and west and by kids going to Hayes to the south and east. The debris restricts the width of the sidewalk and makes the surface potentially hazardous to traverse. Even more problematic is the ponding that occurs right at the bend where Texas St turns into Mountain Rd. Even a small amount of precipitation causes ponding which completely covers the sidewalks and extends out into the street. This, combined with an overgrown tree which also blocks the sidewalk, forces pedestrians to move into the traffic area of the street to go around the blockage or to cross the street where no intersection exists. I am attaching a photo which shows the condition of the sidewalk partially block with debris, the ponding, and the tree which encroaches on the sidewalk. Thank you for your attention to this safety issue.

Although the City has come out and cleaned the sidewalk along the school and done some clearing of the vacant lot behind the tree to try to ease the ponding issue, the safety issues are still there and need to be addressed.
