Quinnipiac River Park has not been mowed properly in more than a month. Grass is two-three feet high in many places and over a foot tall everywhere else. The last time it was mowed, the mowers did not mow near the paths, around trees, or near the river walk way. This grass is now 2-3 feet high, making it difficult for children to play, for people to walk their dogs, to picnic, etc. Also, tall grass encourages ticks and fleas to flourish. Please have the park properly mown ASAP.

Exchange Street between Blatchley and Front Streets has not been swept this season. People are walking down to the park on Front Street, and there is a lot of litter. Many cars park on the right hand side of the street (facing the park) because the other side is no parking. The city needs to post signs to move the cars before they sweep! Usually, in prior years, no signs are posted and the sweeping trucks just move around the parked cars, leaving all the litter between the cars and the curb, which is where most of the litter collects! The drain on that side of the street needs to be cleared for this reason, also. A sweeping truck drove down the middle of the street very quickly a few weeks ago, but it didn't go near the curb at all. I'm not sure if it was because there were so many cars parked on the side and it couldn't, or it was just passing through, but it didn't sweep. The garbage is a health hazard, especially in these times!

Exchange Street below Blatchley Avenue has been swept ONLY TWICE IN THE SIX MONTHS SINCE THE CITY HAS BEEN STREET SWEEPING. Every single day that our street was scheduled to be swept, the weather was fine. Nevertheless, the department of public works has missed four out of six sweepings and has never rescheduled to make a missed sweep up. So please do not tell us that perhaps it rained on our scheduled day (it has NOT or that perhaps there was equipment damage--once or even twice, we might believe, but four out o six times????? Clearly, the department has institutionalized the pattern that Exchange Street below Blatchley Avenue does not need to be swept: the first time it was swept was the first scheduled day; it was only swept again in August, after people who live on Exchange complained to SeeClickFix. The second time, no signs went up in advance and we are in a tag and tow zone, so clearly the department of public works had not intended to sweep but was only reacting to the SeeClickFix report. Unfortunately, because no signs went up before the second sweep, and the sweeping trucks just went around the parked cars, all the trash and debris between the parked cars and the curb has been there since April!!!!! So I would give the August sweep a "D" if I were grading it! Now, we have once again been neglected for our September scheduled sweep!!!! WHY IS THIS INSTITUTIONALIZED PATTERN OF NEGLECT ALLOWED TO CONTINUE???? BECAUSE EXCHANGE STREET IS IN FAIR HAVEN????? WE ALL KNOW THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS WOULD NEVER, EVER SKIP A STREET IN EAST ROCK FOUR OUT OF SIX TIMES!!!! CAN YOU IMAGINE ST. RONAN STREET MISSING FOUR OUT OF SIX OF ITS SCHEDULED SWEEPS????
