Thanks for clearing yesterday, but as you can see the plow filled in completely again today, to almost equal height of the snow they've banked up over several days. I didn't get a bigger snowblower between yesterday and today, so will need this taken care of (as you can see, I've already cleared the sidewalk).

Is there some way I can mark this so they know not to keep pushing snow back in there? Or, alternatively, can you have Express pick up bins from the back alley? I know my other neighbors would also appreciate this option, since garages are in the alley and where most keep their bins anyway. Happy to entertain other suggestions in lieu of posting this every time there's a major snowstorm.

City plow came through and tossed my trash bins up on the winrow, and the half the snow from the street onto the sidewalk. As a result, the snow is too deep for me to get to the bins, and too deep for my snowblower to handle. In addition, they filled in the opening at the end of my sidewalk that I use to roll my bins out each week. How am I supposed to get my trash out now? Please send a skidsteer, the only reasonable way to remove this snow, so that I can get my bins down and have somewhere to get them out to the street. The city seems to have no strategy for dealing with a large snowfall, but historically, has pushed snow to the center of the street and then had it hauled away. The current method is leaving people trapped, some with piles as high as 6 feet at the end of their driveways. No one can shovel their way out of that!! To boot, how can emergency vehicles reach someone? Public safety should take priority!! And, I hope you're not burying everybody's fire hydrants!!!

It is the responsibility of the City of Thorp Public Works Dept to make sure alleys are cleared after a snow event. After the last snow event, my alley was NOT cleared by the City and I had to have someone come and plow it (where should I send the bill?). This was also an issue last year, which I brought to the City's attention. This causes a danger to anyone living on an alleyway, who may only have access to their garage/car from the alley. If you don't remove the snow, many of us are unable to get out. For me, this means I can't get to work! This also means emergency vehicles do not have access either. It's unacceptable.

Likewise, during a winter storm, it's unbelievable that the Public Works Dept isn't out removing snow from city streets at regular intervals. Right now, no streets have been plowed, and in an emergency, ambulance/fire vehicles would have trouble getting to someone's house, and in a fire, also accessing fire hydrants, some of which have been buried by plows after the last snow storm. What are we paying property taxes for?

SnowEmergency: Residential alley ways are the responsibility of the City to clear; mine and many others were not plowed ALL WEEKEND. This not only blocks people with garages to the back of their homes, but blocks emergency vehicle access, which is especially dangerous during weather events such as we saw this weekend.

Many residential alleys in the City of Thorp have not been plowed all weekend!!! For some with large trucks, this may not be problem, but for others like myself, who drive cars, it is impossible to get out! I am delayed in getting to work until my alley is passable. Residents are penalized when sidewalks aren't cleared, so can I send my bill for lost wages to the City? Residential alley ways are CITY STREETS, and are therefore the responsibility of the City to keep clear/safe. Failure to clear them not only traps people who have their garages to the back of their house with only alley access, but also prevents emergency vehicle access, which is dangerous especially in winter weather conditions such as those we had over the weekend. This has been going on all winter, and is dereliction of duty on the part of the City of Thorp.

City streets are a mess. When's the city planning to get them cleaned up? I hope you're not going to wait until all that slush freezes! Also, alleyways are not all being plowed, and are the responsibility if the city. For people who access their garage from an alley, that's unacceptable. Get it together, City of Thorp...winter has only just begun!

Two fire hydrants along W. Birch Street are all but buried and need to be cleared. City should be on the lookout for other buried hydrants, since not having access in a fire emergency is an obvious hazard.
