127 Columbia Ave Jersey City, New Jersey, 07307 - The Heights
IN JULY 2022 THE ZONING DEPARTMENT WAS SENT A COMPLAINT FROM RESIDENT RESPONSE REGARDING A HOUSE WHERE THE OWNERS HAD CEMENTED OVER THEIR ENTIRE BACK YARD WITHOUT LEAVING THE REQUIRED 3 FEET OF EARTH EXPOSED FOR RAIN WATER. ZONING SENT AN ENTRY LETTER ON JULY 29TH FOLLOWING AN INSPECTION (I WAS THERE WHEN INSPECTOR WAS AT THE HOUSE) BUT HAS NOT FOLLOWED UP WITH THE ISSUE. THEY RECEIVED NO RESPONSE FROM THE HOMEOWNERS AND HAVE NOT FOLLOWED THROUGH WITH A SECOND INSPECTION (I WAS THERE FOR THE FIRST INSPECTION) AND THEREFOR NO SUMMONS HAS BEEN ISSUED AND MY BASEMENT CONTINUES TO FLOOD WITH EVERY HEAVY RAIN. I HAVE LEFT MESSAGES WITH ZONING EVERY DAY THIS WEEK AND NO ONE HAS RETURNED MY CALL TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. IT'S 5 MONTHS NOW. WHY IS ZONING NOT HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS REFUSAL TO RESPOND TO MY CALLS OR THE CALLS AND EMAILS SENT TO THEM BY RESIDENT RESPONSE. WHY IS THERE NO ONE OVERLOOKING ZONING TO ENSURE THEY FOLLOWUP ON THE ISSUES THAT ARE COVERED BY THEIR DEPARTMENT. THIS SERIOUSLY NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE ANY SNOW ARRIVES OR WINTER STORMS. WHY IT'S BEEN OVER 5 MONTHS AND STILL WE'RE NO FURTHER ALONG WITH RESOLVING THIS ISSUE THAT THAT COST ME THOUSANDS IN FLOODING REPAIRS FOLLOWING HURRICANE IDA. WHY IS THIS BEING DEADHEADED.

These 2 houses have been reported recently and referred to Sanitation. If you drive by today and look at each alley you'll see that what ever you did has not had one bit of an effect on these property owners. This is a chronic problem.

This report covers 127 Columbia Avenue, 125 Columbia Avenue, and 109 Columbia Avenue. There has been no snow removal at these locations. Also 109 Columbia shoveled just enough that his car can be parked in front of his house but now you can't walk on the sidewalk because it is totally blocked by the car and the snow in front that he didn't shovel. I shouldn't have to walk my dogs in the street because the west side of Columbia Avenue doesn't want to pay anyone to shovel for them.

Both houses have so much garbage and leaves in their alley that is not contained in trash cans or large sealed bags that it blows out onto the sidewalk leaving plastic bags and other pieces of paper in front of the lower blocks houses. Owners have no one in the house to manage the properties and do not have anyone to come regularly to clean the alleys of the debris that builds up. I have tried to get the tenants to contact the owners without success and I'm tired of the garbage that ends up wrapped around my tree and grass every morning. leaving me and others to clean up their mess. They also don't seem to get the concept of plastics and cans separate from paper or from garbage no matter how many times one explains. and this just adds to the problem of their garbage blowing around when what they put out is not able to be picked up by the recycling trucks because its all mixed together.
