Draconian, antiquated disciplinary tactics are being used to keep kids “quiet” during YMCA aftercare and during school hours at Richland Elementary. Verbal reprimands and hazing are daily occurrences and mandatory hours long silences are the norm for these kids. These tactics are preferred by the administration rather than discussing the long standing tactics of bullying students and families that don’t comply. The culture and disciplinary tactics need to be reviewed and monitored at all levels. When will the principal and staff or YMCA be accountable? I’ve addressed this internally over the years but it keeps happening and swept under the rug. Bully tactics are preferred by Ms. McNairy (assuming she’s not married anymore or ever) and intimidation is inevitable to the parents that get in her path or challenge her unchecked authority.

For transparency purposes I’m an attorney here in Memphis and my name is Nick Tansey. Agree or disagree but I am obligated to report what I’ve witnessed over the years. My children will NOT be in YMCA aftercare ever again and we are looking for options outside of our government school system. The “best” of our system needs to get better…fast. The last time I addressed these issues with McNairy she didn’t care that people were leaving Richland because SHE still had a waiting list. It is time for the self proclaimed “queen” to go. Bye!

Rat infestation on city utility easement behind house. Trees and brush were cut down by the city and left creating a breeding ground for rodents. May need to access the utility easement from Normandy.
