Hello! The traffic light right outside 169 Monsignor O'Brien Highway hasn't been working since the thunderstorm on Saturday. Can you please send someone to fix it? Thanks!

Every time the construction team working on the Monsignor O'Brien Highway project digs into the road, they neglect to correctly secure the plates each night when they complete their work for the day (at least, until I get in touch with you to help me remind them... remember last summer/fall?). So every time a car drives over the plates, it makes a thunderous banging noise, which is extremely disruptive to the large residential building across the street, especially at night.

They just installed a new set of plates today, and the plates are making the loud crashing noise every time a car drives over them, and it'll be a sleepless night tonight. Can you please let the manager of this project know that the plates should be properly secured EVERY single night?

Thanks in advance for your help, I really appreciate it!

This issue I reported a few weeks ago was marked as resolved, but as far as I can tell, it hasn't been, since the cover is still making noise whenever a car drives over it: https://seeclickfix.com/issues/5314436. So I'm reporting this again.

One of the manhole covers outside 169 Monsignor O'Brien Highway is loose, and makes a loud noise whenever a car drives over it. The manhole cover is right next to the crosswalk on the inbound side of the highway toward Boston. This is extremely disruptive to the large residential building right next door, especially at night.

Note that this issue arises every couple of months. Last time, the manhole cover was sealed with asphalt. However, the asphalt has broken up, and the manhole cover is clanging again. Can a more permanent fix be put in place?

I'm sorry to be complaining about this yet again, but it's tiresome to have to keep reporting it as well!

Every time the construction team working on the Monsignor O'Brien Highway project digs into the road, they neglect to correctly secure the plates each night when they complete their work for the day (at least until I nag enough times about each set of plates). Every time a car drives over the plates, it makes a thunderous banging noise, which is extremely disruptive to the large residential building just feet away, especially at night.

They just installed a new set of plates today, and the plates are making the loud crashing noise every time a car drives over them, and it'll be a sleepless night tonight. Can you please let the manager of this project know that the plates should be properly secured each and every night? Not just once in a while. Every night.

Thanks in advance for your help, I really appreciate it!

There is a loose manhole cover on the eastbound side of Monsignor O'Brien Highway near the intersection with Gore Street that makes a loud clanging noise whenever a car drives over it, which is very disruptive, especially at night. I've attached a photo pointing out the exact location. Can you please send someone to fix this? Thank you!

Hello! This is part of the construction project taking place on Monsignor O'Brien Highway. The new set of metal plates covering the crosswalk between the Lechmere Station and 169 Monsignor O'Brien Highway (under the traffic light going eastbound) haven't been properly secured each night—you can even see where they're bowing in the middle—and make a thunderous banging noise whenever cars drive over them. This causes sleep disruptions each night the plates aren't properly secured. Can you please remind the project manager to secure the metal plates properly every night? Thanks so much!!

Hello! This is part of the construction project taking place on Monsignor O'Brien Highway. The metal plates covering the crosswalk between the Lechmere Station and 169 Monsignor O'Brien Highway (under the traffic light going eastbound) are no longer secure, and make a thunderous banging noise whenever cars drive over them. This will cause sleep disruptions until it's resolved. Can you please remind the project manager to secure the metal plates properly? Thanks so much!!

As part of the construction project on Monsignor O'Brien Highway, currently in front of 169 O'Brien Highway and the Hampton Inn, each afternoon when the workers finish up, they put down metal plates to cover the areas in the road they've dug up in order to open up the highway lanes at night. But these metal plates make an extremely loud clanging noise whenever cars drive over them, which is causing significant sleep disruptions (ongoing for weeks now). Can anything be done to reduce the noise here? Can they be more careful to make the plates more secure? Westbound traffic is fairly light; can the left lane be kept closed at night?

    Thank you in advance.

Hello! One of the several manhole covers outside 169 Monsignor O'Brien Highway is loose, and makes a loud noise whenever a car drives over it. The manhole cover is right next to the crosswalk on the inbound side of the highway toward Boston.

Note that this issue arose two months ago, and the manhole cover was sealed with asphalt. However, the asphalt has broken up, and the manhole cover is clanging again. Here's a link to that issue, for your reference: https://seeclickfix.com/issues/4621817

One of the several manhole covers outside 169 Monsignor O'Brien Highway is loose, and makes a very loud noise whenever a car drives over it. The manhole cover is right next to the crosswalk on the inbound side of the highway toward Boston. Since it's a highway, this happens many times per minute. Can you please fix this ASAP? If this goes unresolved until Monday, we won't get sleep all weekend.

This just happened a few months ago as well. Please put a more permanent fix in place.

  • 5 3rd Street Cambridge, Massachusetts - East Cambridge
Hello! The walk signal for the crosswalk crossing 3rd street (next to the Dunkin' Donuts) never seems to come on anymore, even when pressing the pedestrian crosswalk button. (To clarify, this is the crosswalk signal crossing 3rd street, NOT the crosswalk signal crossing Monsignor O'Brien Highway, which works perfectly.) Because the walk signal never (or rarely, but I never see it) comes on, and cars will make the right turn on red from O'Brien Highway onto 3rd, pedestrians don't get the opportunity to cross without dodging between traffic, which is very dangerous. Can you please check this walk signal to make sure it turns on regularly, or consider placing a "yield to pedestrians" sign here? Thank you!

We were kept awake all night last night because of the frequent clanging noise. Would it be possible to get this fixed ASAP?

Also, this has been an issue several times. Is there any way to put a more permanent fix in place? Thank you!

  • 169 Monsignor O'Brien Highway Cambridge, Massachusetts - East Cambridge
Hello! The green arrow on the traffic light directly outside 169 Monsignor O'Brien Highway facing northwest in Cambridge is broken. The yellow and red lights still work, so it's just the green arrow that never goes on.
  • 169 Monsignor Obrien Highway Cambridge, Massachusetts - East Cambridge
Hello! The traffic signal right in front of 169 Monsignor O'Brien Highway never turns red, and the walk light never comes on, even when pressing the button on either side of the street. This has been an issue all of today, and is pretty dangerous since cars never slow for pedestrians at this crosswalk since it's a highway. Can you please look into this? Thanks so much!
  • Third Street Cambridge, Massachusetts - East Cambridge

    Hello!

Almost the entire length of the sidewalk on Third Street (from Gore Street to Bent Street) is a solid sheet of ice. I know that the sidewalks are supposed to be cleared by the property owners, but they haven't, and it's really dangerous the way it is now. Is there any way you can clear/salt the sidewalks on Third Street? Thanks so much!

  • 169 Monsignor O'Brien Highway Cambridge, Massachusetts - East Cambridge
Hello! There was some work done on the traffic light at 169 Monsignor O'Brien (they switched the green light to a green arrow), but as a result of this work, the traffic signal never turns red, and the walk signal never changes from stop to walk. This is really dangerous in this location since it's on the highway, and cars never slow down for pedestrians at the crosswalk unless their light is red. Also, pushing the button on either side of the street doesn't help, either. And it used to! Can you please send someone to fix this soon?
