This is not about existing signs but a request for consideration of the addition of signs.

I would ask you to please consider adding 'No commercial Truck traffic' signs to MacVicar and Story, MacVicar and Cross and MacVicar and First streets.

Due to 1st being closed at Taylor we in the Ward Meade neighborhood regularly have semi trucks rolling through our neighborhood. These trucks are coming from the west and were not an issue before First was closed. Logic says they have to be coming from MacVicar, presumably truckers that get off the highway and are trying for a shortcut to get back on.

As you know the streets of Auburndale, Potwin, Kenwood and Ward Meade are not suited for semi truck traffic. They are narrow, many are brick and there are at least two bridges and a couple of box culverts that may not have necessarily been engineered to withstand the rigors of a fully loaded semi truck.

These trucks and the other traffic are also tearing up the streets, I'm seeing cracked and peeling asphalt in a few locations as well as a worsening of the potholes and washboards on Third street.

There has already been damage in a utility box that was replaced at First and Fillmore.

This is not just a temporary issue in that First will be permanently closed when Polk-Quincy Viaduct is built so what we're seeing now are the pre-cursors of what will become a chronic issue.

I know signs will not stop everyone, but perhaps it will slow them down. And maybe if the streets can be marked for no commercial traffic that information can filter down to google maps and other mapping software so commercial drivers' GPS units do not send them down our narrow little residential streets.
