I think the city mentioned earlier this year that this crossing area perhaps is a mish mash of county, city and BNSF property. Any suggestions on cutting through the red tape to address the steep angle of approach from the westside (industrial area) AND to get a smoother roadway just west of the crossing??? At a minimum it would have been nice for Bettis or Sunflower to get a smooth overlay but that will probably need to wait until 2023. Since the multiple fatality crossing accident in Missouri you would think that BNSF would be checking all Amtrak crossing with heavy truck crossing potential and working with local government. yes--some day I do expect pigs to fly (via pumpkin cannons)

a couple of questions 1) is there any plans for SW 57th street renovations in 2023?? (perhaps you can do an adaptation of the SW 12th street plans but with a two way roadway and bike lanes)
2) is the "industrial zone" actually part of the city of Topeka?? because SCF does not show the area as part of the city. 3)any way to get the brush cut back on the south side of SW 57th street OR is that the county responsibility??-- They have roadside brush cutting equipment if you would care to forward this question to them. Will the renovations (mill and overlay) on Gary Ornsby Drive north of Heartland Park raceway be done all the way to the turn to the east onto SE 77th street during 2022 or 2023??? On 10/22/22 work had progressed on the WB lanes to about the third driveway into the raceway. Leaving perhaps one mile of the old original asphalt going to the "tunnel" parking driveway and onward to the curve to SE 77th. Just curious how much is due to be done in 2022 and if 2023 will see anymore done in the area.

Please confirm that the SB Lanes of Fairlawn are patched and ready for the Winter Months. I don't recall if Hot Mix or cold mix was used in the last round of repairs to the horrific decay of the concrete joints along this busy section near I-70. Quite a greeting to out of town visitors to have a suspend check just one block from the I-70 exit.

Standard Operating Procedure for Kansas local governments. Get all kind of thing spruced up when you are asking for a sales tax extension or in this case a 0.2% increase in sales tax. SAD How did you convienently arrange for the purchase of 7 acres of Carnahan area farmland for $50K?? I seem to think any more than that would have required further public disclosure AGAIN SAD. And the rushing through of the Robinson Park part of the bike/walking trail again to have pre election stuff to boast about. I cannot wait for the ribbon cutting and the press release that this will make it easier for low income renters east of Croco to have access to Wal-Mart on California. Yes I saw the press report on how Dornwood extension opened up access for residents near Resers to get to Dillons and Wal-mart. It finally happened. You now have a major street SW 10th with a water main break WHILE you have SW 12th closed for the second year. My immediate suggestion is to have portable traffic signs near THS by this afternoon SO THAT people leaving downtown will know before they get to Washburn avenue to GET OFF of SW 10th. And thank goodness this didn't happen during the Summer when SW 6th and Gage had lane restrictions due the backward scheduling of Sunflower doing the major intersection first and having restrictions for the ENTIRE renovations time period. WOW

With the 4th street exit closed from WB I-70 could the city please consider renovations of the concrete on the 4th street lanes in both directions or mainly the WB lanes. If they could do a total repair like they did on the roadway under I-70 at the Carnahan exit in 2021 that would be great. OR perhaps the area will be blasted away IF KDOT is ever able to proceed with the new viaduct construction.

Why does cross traffic on SW 3rd and sometime SW 4th street at Topeka Blvd. have such a terribly long wait time??? Sometimes the radio plays an entire song before the cross traffic gets a green light. At 3rd street would there be a way to make a Right Turn only lane for traffic turning north to use Topeka Blvd. to get to the bridge or to First Street to get access to WB I-70.

What speeds were involved and what public endangerment was involved in a chase ALL THE WAY from the Topeka High area to 17th and Fairlawn??? Thank goodness the pursuit was ended before getting to the busy busy intersection of 21st and Fairlawn or maybe worse 29th and Fairlawn. It seems a great deal of totally residential area was covered whether the pursuit used 17th or 10th street. Again thank goodness it wasn't a weekday when many school children Could Have Been on either 10th or 17th. Use your plate readers and track the car and the owner PLEASE.

the entire street is missing around this location and also going WB over to Gage. How is the progress on this portion of the 2023 SW 12th street project??? Unless I missed it there have not been any excessive rain delays. So hopefully this project might be ahead of schedule.

Perhaps this question cannot be answered due to security issues, but here I go. Could you compare the number of sworn officers there are for TPD with the combined numbers of all other LEOs in Shawnee County??
So the others would be TPS officers, Airport police, SNCO Sheriff Deputies, Capital Police and Kansas Highway Troopers. Perhaps there are others. Even just a general idea to compare the active officer numbers would be appreciated.

Today 10/13 there was blowing sand in the Kansas state building parking lot and I imagine it will repeat on Friday 10/14. Probably originating from the softball fields between 29th street and NG Armory parking lots. Can the county put water or something on the fields to get rid of this problem???

This address was reported to the city for several trailers parked for extended time on the property. One with Nebraska tags parked against a Utility power pole and limiting access to the pole. The city has said this is a county address. Could you please check the location for trailers parked and perhaps blocking an utility easement???

What is the status of the eight TPD officer from the wild west shoot out in downtown Topeka?? How much overtime has TPD amassed since the shoot out due to being down 8 patrol officers?? Or have people with normal desk duty been able to get out on patrol and keep a lid on the overtime??

Please consider a change/update to the SCF system. It appears that in a city response to a Service Request a programed message says the issue is being forwarded to the Traffic department and to expect a response in 48 hours. Please consider making this a One Week response time. In do this SCF thing for 6-7 years it has routinely taken 7-10 days for a response OR sometimes no response is every returned.
