Just bringing to your attention a gate that is consistently left open that runs along Central Sarasota Parkway & the Stoneybrook Nature Trail. The gate is the one adjacent to the lookout dock to the lake to the south of the Stoneybrook trail. I know this is a county area, but notice 'other' contractors utilizing this gate for quick access to the trail. I feel with the gate being left open as often as it is, will invite too much curiosity in pedestrians in the area, as this trail is frequented daily. This is just a 'heads up' and a FYI.

FPL is in the process of doing a "Pole Hardening Project" (which is still under way on Palmer Ranch); but in this particular area, they cleared a 20 foot swath of invasive peppers (which is a good thing) from McIntosh Ave, west to the Mira Lago Community.

However, during that clearing, they exposed a rather large depression about 15-20 feet east of the sidewalk, that many residents have complained about. The depression is about 20-30 (actually two depressions) feet wide and ranges from 2-4 feet deep. It is about 200 feet east of Mira Lago's entrance on the north side of Palmer Ranch Parkway West.

PRMA is taking care of the ROW in this area until FPL made it 15- 20 feet wider. Although we're still maintaining the ROW from the asphalt curb to the western edge of the clearing, that still leaves a significantly large area from McIntosh, to the western edge of Mira Lago's entrance that is nothing more than a mulch bed presently. Again, not at all bad until we figure out a way to maintain that area, but until then, one would have to surmise that this new area would have to be maintained by Sarasota County.

All of this would be a non-issue if FPL didn't already state that they don't intend on 'filling in' this rather large and dangerous depression(s) they uncovered; whether it was there before their project, or not.

I would appreciate the county looking into this matter before a resident gets overly curious and falls into this depression, that again, FPL refuses too remedy. As it is, we had to have our own crew 'caution tape' off the area.

Another perimeter casing that is broken. Again, it doesn't appear to be affecting functionality, other than aesthetics. The light is in the west bound lane on Central Sarasota Pkwy, facing the east traveling traffic on Livingston St.

I wanted to take a moment to follow up on SR #398562. The clearing of the invasive pepper trees within the Eligraw Bayou which is/was to be completed by May 15th of this year. I have sent in numerous emails to the county in regards to this with no replies to this day. I wanted to see it this date is realistic and still "on track", or if it has perhaps fell through the cracks. The Bayou is historically treated by an aquatic vendor, but they have been unable to do so for quite some time now due to the overgrowth of these invasive peppers. This matter, left untreated is sure to create more of a headache down the road for the stormwater mitigation efforts in the area than actually getting in there to do the clearing.

There is a storm water grate in need of repairs on Palmer Ranch Parkway WEST. Just east of Beneva Rd. on the east bound lane to the south side.

Following up on Storm Water Operations regarding Service Request; SR394630. There has been a missing storm water grate since September of 2016. It was subsequently 'Caution Taped' off while the county awaited a replacement cover, but has since been removed (at least during my last few drive around' Palmer Ranch). However, I do not see a storm grate there to warrant the Caution Tape removal. Although this is off the beaten path for pedestrians, this is a relatively busy intersection, and I would hate to think anything bad would arise from an unfortunate accident in this area. I thank you for your time in looking over this matter.

This is more of a request, than an issue.

Being a NYS transplant, I'm still getting used to the bike paths the state of Florida shares with motorists. On far too many occasions I have witnessed incidents where a vehicle strays into a bike path, nearly running over a bicyclist; more notably around curves in a road. If there was a way to grind in "rumble strips" such as those we have on highways, to differentiate when a vehicle "strays" into a bike lane, this would/could go a long way with saving a life or two. Not only will it warn the motorist, but the biker as well; as they are quite loud once driven on.

Again, this is just a suggestion, as I know from being an eyewitness to it happening more often than should be reasonable, this could go a long way with easing a biker's stress when sidewalks are not an option. I'm sure there are ways to grind in 'smaller rumble strips' so it doesn't have to be too much of a hassle for the county/state.

Top of street light is broken. Not sure how... maybe a bird hit it, who knows. It doesn't appear to be affecting functionality; thus far.

The creek opening is extremely shallow (3-6 inches) due to the amount of silt being washed into it from the Catfish Regional Stormwater Facility Pond. I, and Palmer Ranch as a whole, would really appreciate if someone from Sarasota County Stormwater Management could look into this. Treating the area effectively is greatly diminished by the lack of an ability to get the proper machinery into this area of catfish creek to be sure our stormwater system remains unencumbered. I'm not asking for anything more than what the Sarasota County ordinances don't already require to comply with the Clean Water Act. Particularly ordinance: 89-117.

Good morning.

We are trying to avoid an issue with stormwater run-off into Catfish Creek. The area in question is the exit culvert from the large industrial lake behind Clark Center Avenue (Sarasota, FL) into Catfish Creek which is all county property. Just outside the culvert, into the beginning of the creek, there is so much build up of silt from the lake, that it is effecting the drainage ability of the creek and allowing too much water to enter the creek instead of being mitigated by a deeper channel to where our beneficial vegetation can work its magic. We have an Aquatic conservation team treating the area but they are unable to get the proper equipment in there due to the shallow nature of the creek at the culvert inlet. I was hoping that we could get the creek 'area' dredged by the county, as per the Sarasota County Private Stormwater Conveyance Maintenance Ordinance." (Ord. No. 99-050, § 2, 7-14-1999) so as to avoid any future issues. It isn't a large area that would need the dredging; perhaps 100' in length at most to where the silt is a non factor in the creek.
