The sidewalk and roads on the northwest corner of Sussex and Van Vorst and the southwest corner of Sussex and Van Vorst are always flooded when it rains to the point that they form small lakes. It is a result of the road grading Fields/Katerra did when they build the Lenox. It will soon become ice.

The light is barely on. It is the only Street light on the east side of Van Vorst St. between Sussex and Grand Streets.

The catch basins on the northeast and northwest corners of Sussex St. and Van Vorst St. are completely clogged despite having had the street-sweeper come by.

Tonight I turned south onto Warren from Grand St. A Lyft car was speeding north on Warren!! This is a one way south street once you are south or Morris. He barely missed hitting my car and continued north on Warren, a one-way street, despite my honking and kept going until he turned east on Grand. This is truly awful. My husband was almost hit this afternoon at Van Vorst and Sussex because a Fresh Direct truck was parked on Van Vorst to deliver to the Lenox, which has no driveway for deliveries, and the truck blocked pedestrians from seeing on-coming cars. This should not be put on citizens and HIGH PAYING TAXPAYERS to report nightly on the threats of walking the streets in Paulus Hook. I consider this to be an emergency matter which should have the full attention of the City of Jersey City and its various departments. The traffic patterns may have made sense two or three decades ago when much of the area was vacant lots and single-family row houses. It makes no sense now. Cars exiting the Lenox's garage on Sussex west of Van Vorst have increased the volume on the corner tremendously. The road is two narrow for two way traffic with huge Escalades/trucks dominating--two can't pass each other easily. Please do a traffic study and rethink the entire area south of Grand and east of Van Vorst. Thank you.
  • Essex And Van Vorst Jersey City, New Jersey - Downtown
This complaint doesn't fit one of your categories. There is flagrant speeding in Paulus Hook. Sunday a speeding car hit a light rail at Essex and Van Vorst. The speeding on Van Vorst has actually worn down the speed bumps. We need traffic lights on the corners of Sussex, Morris, and Essex and Van Vorst. There is a huge influx of cars with the Lenox and now its sister building opening and it is dangerous to walk in this once quiet area.

"Riots" has been recently written on the yellow Bel Fuse garage building on both the Van Vorst facing side and the Sussex St. facing side. The night of March 26, my car, parked on the northwest corner of Sussex just east of Van Vorst, was broken into and my GPS was stolen. Last night the eentire Paulus Hook neighborhood was vandalized with broken planters, lighting torn from trees, an overturned motor bike and a garbaage can on top of a car. We need police presence in Pualus Hook at night. Taxes went up considerably and there is never a squad car in the neighborhood. The thugs know this and are taking advatnage of it and us.

!8-wheeler flatbed and working forklift are blocking pedestrian walkway build out into Grand to allow people to walk safely on Grand during construction. A second 18-wheeler flatbed is parked behind the first. There was no policeman there. I had to go out into traffic in Grand St. because I was trapped by truck and forklift. I called it in to police deparment.

There are two dead trees on the north side of Sussex St. west of Van Vorst (dead end to St. Peter's HS field) that are about to fall over. I walk my dog there and it is dangerous. If St. Peter's HS owns the trees/property, they should be forced to remove them. Thank you.

The sewer on the southeast corner of Van Vorst and Morris has been moved so it is now further east on Morris St. and not on the corner of Morris and Van Vorst. In its new position, it catches no water and the entire corner is a small pond/ice rink depending on the temperature.

My paper recycling wasn't picked up on Dec. 28. I called and was told "an inspector will come." I called again and was told "a truck will come." Neither did. I will have double the amount this week. Please arrange to have it all picked up. Also you should know the Lenox Apartment opened. People moved in. They already have massive recycling out so more trucks will be needed at Sussex and Van Vorst. Thanks and happy new year. Will there be enough trucks?
