I recently towed two abandoned vehicles from this location. While at the location, I can see that there are dismantled vehicles in the backyard of this privately owned residence. There is a Cadillac Escalade which has been stripped of it's engine, transmission and front end; there are the remains of a Ford 4.6L V8 truck engine and chassis on the ground next to it. Several assorted car parts on the ground. Also two older model GM cars between the fence line and the house.

There are at least three blighted vehicles on this vacant home's driveway. The property is owned by a private citizen, who is a known commercial auto dealer. One vehicle is a pickup truck, stripped of the engine, transmission and wheels. One vehicle is a newer Chevy sedan that appears totaled from accident damage. The vehicles were tagged for abandonment, and the owner blocked the vehicles in with a third large white truck. At this time, since the vehicles are on private property, they can not be removed at this time by the police.

There is trash and debris covering the driveway and in the garage of this vacant dwelling (City of Detroit Land Bank owned). There is a red Chrysler Sebring that appears to be stolen in the garage of the location, covered by the trash (building materials, household materials, etc.). Can we remove the debris, so that Detroit Police can access and remove the vehicle from the garage?

  • 5781 Marlborough Street Detroit, MI - US Congressional District MI13
This concern was reported to DPD Abandoned Vehicle Task Force by the Mayors Office. I investigated this matter on 11-13-2017. There were six vehicles sitting on the vacant lot, none of them with valid license plates. Some of the vehicles were visibly inoperable (missing wheels and tires). I checked the public records, and it showed the land as being owned by the City of Detroit Land Bank Authority. As I was investigating the vehicles, an occupant of the occupied dwelling next door approached me and stated that he owns this vacant lot and that the lot is private property. If this matter is investigated, and it is determined that the land is in fact owned by the City of Detroit, please re-assign it to Detroit Police Department -CL (whether a blight violation is issued or not). Thank you!

I received a Sunguard police report on an abandoned vehicle next to 887 Atkinson. The vehicle is a gray Ford Taurus DLV 1532 (not reported stolen) with busted windows. I observed the vehicle in the lot on 8-15-2017. I identified the property address as 895 Atkinson, which is privately owned by a "general citizen". When I was at the location, I observed kids playing in the vacant lot where the vehicle was located.
