Our neighbors that lived on 10008 Covington Drive SE have moved out. In the process the last two weeks they placed disposed materials which are all PROPERLY boxed on the curbside for pickup. For two weeks in a ROW the sanitation folks have decided THEY DON'T want to pick up said garbage.

I'm NOT talking 20' 10" diameter tree limbs. I'm talking STUFF in boxes that are easily handled by the crane on the trash truck. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

PS: I pay my utility bill on time each month. My former neighbors PAID their utilities ON TIME each month for the last 35 years. They and I expect to receive services paid for.

Google Fiber optic cable was cut during road resurfacing on Covington Drive SE. Cable to 5 homes were cut and replaced a week ago. The cables remain above ground and across sidewalks which presents a tripping hazard, especially at night. Google has been contacted and has no plans on completing the burial of the cables.

Given that these sidewalks are used day and night and the trip hazard presented by utility cables laid across a public easement I would assume that it is in the best interests of the City and its citizens to get these cables buried ASAP before someone is seriously injured.

As previously stated: Google has been contacted by several residents multiple times and there is NO plan to complete the burial of cables.

    Thank you.

The sidewalk section next to the driveway of the home on 10005 Covington Drive SE is almost 2" higher than the driveway. The section is almost directly behind the mailbox. Other sidewalk elevation problems have been fixed, however this large one has not been repaired.

This dog maybe perfectly friendly and he may be a man eater. I don't know and I don't want to find out. This dog has been running up barking and scaring people for years now which basically renders the sidewalk useless. I want to use the sidewalk for its intended purpose without harassment from this canine. I also don't want to have one of my grandchildren bitten by this canine in the event he is not friendly.

Apparently the dog wears a shock collar. The owner needs to control and/or retrain the dog so that he does frighten people trying to utilize the public sidewalk.

It appears that Covington Drive SE is not going to be resurfaced this year. The deep pot holes that you have to swerve around are a safety issue both in the sense of causing an vehicular accident and also when crossing the street as a pedestrian. I turned my ankle the other evening crossing the street to my daughters house.

Please come and patch Covington Drive SE from top to bottom.

    Kind regards,

    The Shadow

Here's a short video view of the crumbling roads I have the pleasure of navigating each day... Multiple attempts over the course of many years has yet to get the City of Huntsville to repave our roads. This road hasn't been repaved in 30+ years. Too soon?

Rumor had it after speaking to many City employees at the Huntsville Public Works that there was a good chance of getting our road paved in July 2019. Any ETA?

This property has been empty for a long time now. Every year the lack of maintenance has to be reported to the City. According to public records this property is in the process of foreclosure. If a bank can afford to buy a property they need to maintain it. The City needs to get the attention of the property owner and get this fixed once and for all!

The "pothole" option doesn't begin to describe the awful condition of our neighborhood streets. The road has not been repaved since it was originally built in 1984! Driving up and down the streets is basically like driving on an obstacle course. Drunk drivers shouldn't be a problem because they would most likely get stuck in one of the thousands of large potholes! What used to be the pavement is basically disintegrated to the point where oncoming cars sound like they are driving on a gravel road.

Show a little love and a little respect for tax paying citizens like ourselves! PAVE OUR NEIGHBORHOOD STREETS BEFORE ONE OF THE POTHOLES SWALLOWS UP MY PRIUS!

Numerous ruts and potholes caused by erosion and wear in front of my house need to be patched. I'm only worried about the erosion from my house to Shades Road. The rest of the neighborhood can lodge their own complaints.

I also don't understand why Todd Mill Circle was just repaved? I have friends on Todd Mill Circle and I know for a fact that it was in "pristine" condition compared to our Shadow Wood neighborhood streets. Todd Mill Circle seems to get repaved every 5 years whether it needs it or not.

Your method of prioritizing roads which need repaving is a joke!

I saw a street sweeper on Whitesburg the other day. Can the city sweep our street gutters? We have about a 1/2" of asphalt gravel in the gutters due to the erosion from our dilapidated and worn out 30 year old streets. Mucho Gracia....

First the good news! Huntsville Utilities did an excellent job of installing the gas and fiber lines! My hat is off to them. Finally Comcast competition! Google Fiber is GREAT!!!

Now the bad news... I've been trying to get Huntsville Public Works to consider milling and repaving our neighborhood streets (Shadow Wood Subdivision, Covington, Shades, etc) now that the utility work has been completed.

In conversations with the Huntsville Public Works I have been told, although not convinced, that our roads are safe and in fine condition and NOT in need of repaving despite the fact that the roads, as best as I know have not been paved since the neighborhood development in the mid 1980's.

Fine is a relative term. Compared to third world countries without paved roads I would have to agree our roads are safe and great if you like driving on a wash board! However given the amount of taxes I pay for the privilege of living in Huntsville and considering that my property taxes continually rise each year I'd like to see some return from the gas, sales tax, property tax and various fees that I have paid as a Huntsville resident over the last 30 years.

A pig is a pig no matter how much lipstick you put on it. Our neighborhood streets need milling and repaving. Huntsville needs to start taking pride in its infrastructure and I can't think of a better way to start than to fix the roads in my neighborhood.

Now that the underground utility work appears to be finished the entire Shadow Wood neighborhood is in need of road milling and repaving. As an original resident I don't believe the city has ever done any paving work since the neighborhood was originally developed in the mid 1980's.

This roadway has reached the end of its useful life. The road is difficult to travel given the deep puddles (~6 inches deep) which cover the road from one side to the other. After a good rain the water will remain standing for weeks at a time. The road also has severe damage which can catch the bottom of your vehicle. The roadway appears to have reached the end of its useful life and needs to be redone. Please see attached picture which shows the details of the many problems that this section of Leeman Ferry Rd SW has.
