Downtown Bridgeport has many fine entertainment venues. But only one insists arrogantly that its entertainment be foisted regularly and nightly into the living rooms and bedrooms of downtown residents. This venue is Tiago's Grill on State Street.

Tiago's has a fine reputation, but late a night, especially on weekends, it becomes a nuisance to people who live downtown close to it. How does one business decide to rock its music so loud that my room vibrates to it a block away? How is it that Tiago's entertainment drowns out the entertainment I choose? Why does the city permit this to happen? Why does the city spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars regularly to police Tuago, but not insist it has is own security force?

How can the city expect new housing close to Tuago to be a success if the new residents discover they cannot sleep, they cannot enjoy peace and quiet in their own home, and discover that whatever music Tiuago chooses is their enforced entertainment until the wee hours of the morning?

Please, City of Bridgeport, tell me what possible zoning permit, what possible zoning exception or variance, what possible entertaunbmen permit, has been granted to this noisy business that intrudes into my home so very regularly? Please respond by explaining the public policy behind a decision to issue an unlimited noise permit to a business within earshot of hundreds of new downtown residential units representing millions in investment?

Sure, entertainment and residents have to coexist. I only ask: Why can't an entertainment venue keep the entertainment inside the venue, not project it into my living room and bedroom a block away? Bottom line: Not a good neighbor, not caring, arrogant. More to the point: What city permit allows them to do this?
